Shuttle from airport to Sandals

We're 2 days away from our trip to beautiful St. Lucia and Sandals Halcyon...just have a couple of questions about the shuttle from the airport. Will the shuttle be strictly people going to Sandals resorts, or is there a possibility of stopping at other resorts. Does the shuttle typically make a stop along the way for refreshment, etc. How long does the trip usually take.

Thanks and Cheers!!!

The shuttle will be only Sandals guests and they try to have them only with guests for a specific Sandals (although that doesn't always work out) Usually there is a stop at a scenic overlook about halfway for picture stop, stretch your legs, use the restroom and get a drink if you want. The trip is anywhere from 1.15-1.5 hours, depending on traffic. As you are coming on a Sunday - very little traffic, should be about 1.15-1.25 hours.

Enjoy your trip.

Yup, the free shuttle for all Sandals Resorts has only Sandals guests on board. Great way to see St. Lucia. Very jealous of you guys, only a day now, have fun!

Perhaps you could do a day visit to the Grande and see how the new construction is going there and post info on that.

Glad to read this about the shuttle bus.

We will be going in April, arriving on a Tuesday, so hoping for not too much traffic too.

A stopover halfway will be welcome too.

On a Tuesday, depending on your flight arrival time - you will hit a fair amount of traffic in Castries - but nothing like you would find in London Steve-and-Barbara!

Enjoy your visit!

Haha, that's probably very true!!

The flight is due to land about 14:30, so should be on the road by 15:30??

Thanks for your reply :)

Yup - should be about right. That makes you getting into Castries about 16:30-17:00 or so - which is peak get off work/traffic time! Sorry - no getting around it. No wories- it's traffic on a tropical island - how bad can it be? ;-)

Yes you're quite right.

When you're used to 5 mile journey taking 2 hours I think a bit of island traffic at 'going home time' won't be too much of a problem :) :)

Just for anyone else taking this shuttle soon - our shuttle didn't stop half way through, but it did only take about 90 mins.

The 'shuttles' though are just small minibuses that hold no more than 10 people. Wasn't the most comfortable journey although commentary on the way there was good.

Barbara doesn't travel well though and on the return journey the driver took a different route, going through the mountains - very bumpy and twisty.

In hindsight, we should have booked the private transfer and had a proper car just to ourselves, where we could open the window and probably stop for a few mins if we wanted.

@ BarbaraandSteve, did the driver ask if people wanted to stop or did they just drive to the resort?

Steve- the first time (& the second time) we took the shuttle to Sandals. Now we take a private transfer. It is much better, so you can have them turn up the air conditioning or open the window. I have always noticed that the trip back to the airport is always tougher than the ride there.

When we did take the shuttle, I think we only stopped once on the way to the resort. I also recall one trip where they did ask if anyone wanted to stop, but we all wanted to get to the resort!
