proximity to bars

Hi all,

Would love to know which of these hotels are closest to the bars/nightlife...

Caribe Hilton San Juan

San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel

San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino

El San Juan Hotel & Casino

How much or long of a cab ride would be helpful too?

Thanks!

oh i meant, if we stay at these hotels, how long might the cabride be to the nightlife? however, it sounds like for some of these the nightlife is IN the hotel...what a concept.

Los of bars and nightlife in Old San Juan. If you stay in Isla Verde a taxi to OSJ would cost $19. From the Condado the taxi would cost $14.

Isla Verde to OSJ - about 15 minutes: from Condado, 10 minutes

nyc, I haven't been in every club in San Juan, but I have been in enough to know that nighlife in San Juan has the kind of verve and vitality that people associate with night clubs, but often don't get, in for instance, Boston. Even Vegas is now pretty erratic, unless you hit a club on its best night. In San Juan they start early and end late. You'll find bands playing in the hotels by 7 or 8PM. The live band at the El Chico Lounge in the El San Juan starts its last set after 2AM.

In my view, the El San Juan is a unique venue. There may have ben places like this in Havana before Castro, but I haven't seen its like anywhere else. The ground floor of the hotel contains 4 separate bars, an old style nightclub and a disco style nightclub and a casino. Additionally, tthere are dozens of seating arrangements for 4 or 6 At 2AM last Saturday night, the place was full of attractive well dressed sophisticated people, relaxed and enjoying the salsa/merengue music, having cocktails, seeing and being seen. No rowdyness, no tension. True adult entertainment. Be warned that if you stay at the El San Juan and I almost always do) the rooms are being totally renovated. the unrenovated rooms are worn and it is pretty noisy at times. On the other hand the rates reflect the subpar conditions. When the renovations are done, rooms in this hotel will be very pricey. Anyway, have a great time in San Juan

I have visited myself San Juan Mariott's Dance Floor on Salsa nights and have had great times, but I think this hotel it dead due to major renovations. All of the options that were given by this experts are great nyc. Especially El San Juan's Brava Club, but nothing is as good as puertorricans own salsa music, so if you can get to one of this shows enjoy it.

Have a safe trip.

Hi

The Caribe Hilton is kind of by itself - but I really like the bar there. Not sure how tame you like your nightlife - you might find it too tame.

Is the Water and Beach Club on Isla Verde? If it is where I think it is, it is a 20 min. walk to the El San Juan so you could do nightlife at both hotels.

You can catch a cab outside the El San Juan or the Intercontinental Hotel. It's so much better than renting a car, which is pricey even for tiny cars.

Have fun!
