Old San Juan sites

We plan to spend a day in Old San Juan...which sites should we not miss out on! And any suggestions of great places to eat with good local food?

Thanks!

The two forts: Castillo de San Felipe del Morro & San Cristobal fort

La Fortaleza. The governor's mansion, the oldest part is nearly 500 years old and was built by the 1st governor of the island Juan Ponce de Leon.

The light show at La Ballaja near El Morro.

You should walk by Paseo de la Princesa, walk towards your right and it will lead you to "La Puerta de San Juan" (San Juan's door). It is a large door on the wall that sorrounds the city and protected it against invaders (when PR belonged to Spain). This area will lead to the Governor's mansion.

Then, keep walking up towards the hotel El Convento. It used to be a convent, now turned into a hotel. Across the street is San Juan's Cathedral, where Ponce de Leon is buried.

On your way, eat our "helados" (ice cream). they are sold by local people strolling with a cart and ringing a small bicycle type bell. Most popular flavor is coconut, but you can try passion fruit, pinnaple, or mixed fruits. Flavors will vary from vendor to vendor but all will have coconut.
