Public Parking near Hilton Caribe in San Juan?

Trying to figure out if a rental car is worth it? Hilton charges 16.00 per night to park car. Does anyone know if there is Public parking near the Hilton that is cheaper?

You could park at Escambron beach and walk 10 minutes to your hotel but their rate is charged per hour, so you are better off paying the $16 at the Caribe Hilton.

Actually $16 is cheap for a hotel. Usually about $20. San Juan is well over a million people. Land is expensive. Parking is hard to come by.

As far as I know, the parking at Escambron Beach is a flat rate. Please, if someone could clarify this.

The downside is there is no security staff to patrol the area after their close of business. The car would stay there without no one to watch out for its safety.

That said, there is no other public parking around until you get to Condado or Old San Juan, both too far for that matter.

I see no other option but to park in the hotel.

Consider renting a car just for the time you need it. If you are planning to get away from San Juan, plan your trips for consecutive days, so you use the car and return it immediately.

There is no need for a car in San Juan unless you want to drive to other towns or specific places in the farthest points of the city. If you try to use the car in most of San then you will pay for the day of rental plus the parking rates.

Unless you are traveling around the Island rethink the idea of a rental car. The Caribe has a Hertz desk if you want to rent a car for say a day to the rainforest. The problem with the Caribe is walkability to restaurants and Casinos. During the day it is an easy and safe and short walk across the bridge to Condado and a much longer walk to Old San Juan.

How many days are you staying? Not only there's a Hertz desk at the HiIlton, but there's another rental across the street. Maybe you can take taxis some days and rent a car only when you really need it.
