Off the beaten path excursions in Runaway Bay area

I would like some suggestions for off the beaten path excursions in the Runaway Bay area.

Would like to hit some local pubs, mabe for the superbowl (will be there first week of Feb. 2007), I know it sounds like a weird question but do the local pubs have satellite TV in Jamaica?

I'm also considering going to Cranbrook Gardens. Any thoughts on that???

The other option I'm considering is going to Brownstown. Don't know much about it - any advice, suggestions would be greatly apprecitated.

TIA

Greetgins my friend.

Brownstown is DEFINATELY worth a visit! It's only about 15-20 minutes from Runaway Bay and is a great "real Jamaica" experience. There are some great historical and cultural sites and tons of diverse shopping.

I've yet to visit Cranbroook, however I have friends who've been and said it's a great casual hike through the woods. Shaw Park Botanical Gardens is alos only about 30 minutes away and is beautiful.

There are several great bars right in Runaway where you can hang out, some will have satellite. ( I think both the Roof and Tek it Easy have ) there's also Flavours for the afternoon and the Savoy is another night club.

ENJOY!

Blessings and respect to you.

Can anyone supply more information on Brownstown? We'll be in the area in January and are always looking for new places to explore.

Thanks, Buzz

Yeah, I tried doing a search and didn't get much. I would love to see pictures and hear some stories about Brownstown too.

Check this link for some history of Browns Town.

The market there is wonderful to visit. Also Browns Town is the "Education Capital" of St Ann. Most of the major teaching institutions in St Ann is based in Browns Town.

I'd like to try a meal at HEART next time I'm in the area...maybe stay there. It is the hospitality training school run by the gov't.

I love going to Brown's Town when we are there. The market is fantastic..I love the fresh spices. The people are friendly and helpful and ...

It's too hard to explain....you need to experience this yourself.

I am in awe when I look at the date a Church was built. I am in awe of Jamaica and it's people.
