Nice restaurant in Port Antonio?

Hi,

I think we'll have lunch at Norma's on the beach when we arrive, but any suggestions on a nice restaurant for dinner on our first night? Are there any good ones in the town itself or would it be better to head East?

Norma's is closed on Sunday or Monday, I forget which, so plan accordingly.

Also at the marina is a Russian-Jamaican restaurant, I have heard good things but haven't been. It's in the marina building itself, upstairs.

I think Fern Hill is a nice place to eat with truly amazing views. I hear the same about Mockingbird Hill but I haven't been.

Dickie's Best Kept Secret is great -

Anna Banana's is okay, hit or miss (new owners)

Woody's Burgers is great, but not fancy - best burgers and veggie burgers, though - and if you call ahead you can arrange a full JA meal. Fun place too, with great people.

Thanks, girls.

I read about the russian place and I took a look at their facebook page (listed in the restaurant reviews section on here). The menu looked nice and the photos were good, so i'm intrigued and might give that one a go.

Recent visits to Dickie's have been poor. I don't know what's gone wrong there.

Yes, I read some bad reviews on Dickie's here on tripAdvisor :(

Wow, sad - Didn't eat there this trip - But that was always a very unique place to go.

Just another heads up, if you do rent a car - there is ALWAYS a police block up in the San San area, so seatbelts on and drive slow!

I've never made it to Dickie's but friends went recently and revealed, in a "price of lobster around Jamaica" discussion, that the lobster prices there are really high.

For me the whole calling ahead thing is a bit of a pain.

If you are interested in an early dinner you could make advance reservations for a private dinner on the beach @ Frenchman's Cove. They close @ 5:00 So you have to eat early. The food is great and the atmosphere/view is spectacular.

We love Dickie's! Sorry to hear the latest :(

We also like Woody's which has decent burgers and such. Nice comfortable atmosphere.

Enjoy!
