Looking for great beach bar 5-minute walk from Beaches....

We're heading to Jamaica for the first time ever in early April and staying at Beaches Negril.

We typically don't do AIs and would love to know if there are any super-casual barefoot beach bars that are tourist-friendly within 5-minutes walking distance of Beaches.

We know drinks are included at Beaches, but would really like to find some local flavour during our trip. Ideally this beach bar would have some piped in or, even better, live reggae music.

We'd be seeking a couple of Red Stripes during the afternoon.

Many thanks for any and all replies.

Cosmo's is very close and is great for drinks, lunch, or dinner with some local music.

Alfred's Ocean Place is a great beach bar too. It's walking distance from Beaches as well but a little further away than Cosmo's.

Take a walk down the beach and you will find a ton of places. Is there a reason why it needs to be 5 minutes away? We never do all-inclusive and this will be our 6 year olds 5th time to Jamaica in Feb. It is safe to leave your resort. Have fun! Maybe you will even see some hotels on your walk that you would like to check out for your next trip to Negril, since you said that you don't typically do AI. I would also suggest going to dinner on the cliffs one night.

You and your kids will love Beaches Negril, our favorite long time family resort in Jamaica. Don't limit yourselves to a 5 minute walk, there is so much to see walking south down the beach from Beaches. Just stop along the way at places that look interesting, an experience not to be missed while in Negril. Enjoy!

Thanks so much everyone! We just finished booking our flights five minutes ago. I've made note of all suggestions above.

One question...are these all south of Beaches or north, or a little of both?

Thanks again!

All are south except Cosmos. Download and print the Negril map from www.negrilinfo.com for a reference.

I like the Boat Bar too. 2-6 on Friday - live Reggae band. They may do it one other afternoon too each week which was the deal when we were there last March. I saw a recent post saying Otis Gayle is playing on Fridays from 2-6, so this year Fridays look to be on the schedule for now. More like a 15-20 minute walk from Beaches. Turn left when facing ocean and walk.bYou are getting closer when you see Nirvana.
