Access To 7 Mile Beach

I will be with a group of 40-50 people and we will be staying on the cliffs. I was hoping to plan an excursion where we would be able to spend 2-3 hours hanging out on the beach; then take the Wild Thing Sunset Catamaran cruise. In pictures for the Wild Thing, I see a beach area and Chances in the background. Is this a good beach spot where we can hang out or would a different spot be recommended?

There are two places that I know of that offer public Access to the beach. Others here may know of others.

Bloody Beach is one of them. Without going too far the 7 MIle name isn't exactly how it goes .

I suggest you speak to your driver about this excursion for 40 to 50 people...as this is a lot of people to just "appear " at the beach one day....especially if its during high capacity days

When I went to view these locations it was off season and everyone would of been overjoyed to see you. Bloody Beach if I remember correctly has vendors and foods available..and a bar.I also saw a catamaran nearby but I never asked about its name or who captained it.

So long story short--you excursion is totally do-able.....just plan out the days and which beach would be best for this or perhaps letting persons know that your group will be coming....and I think your driver may be able to help sort this out for you.

Others can probably straighten me out as far as which beach is which...Two pics are Bloody Beah and the other two are 7 Mile I believe. Both are looking out from the public Access Points.

Chances has a good sized beach area with food and drink available. And it's where Wild thing is moored. Good choice.

There are many other places to access Long Bay, and most of the bars will welcome you if you purchase from them.

Bloody Bay also has access just past Sunset at the Palms. The "new" Office of Nature is located there, and can also accomodate a large group. It''s quite a distance back to the Wild Thing area though.

Negril's 7-mile beach is divided into two sections: Bloody Bay (about 2 miles) and Long Bay (about 5 miles). There is no beach connection between the two as there is a imposing rocky outcropping (Rutland Point) that is not passable on foot.

Bloody Bay was empt of development for years and years and thus did not develop the 'Negril' vibe that Long Bay long has. Bloody Bay is essentially one AI after another with a streatch of beach completely undeveloped. Bloody Bay sat image: wikimapia.org/…b

Long Bay is where you will find the Negril vibe (pubs, bars, eateries, strolling musicians, strolling vendors. Lots of resorts from bigger AIs to small villas. In net, Long Bay has the Negril action.

So, I suggest Long Bay as the place to play while waiting for your cat ride. One place to enter is the eatery called Cosmo's for a sea food lunch (or just walk thru) and turn left. My suggestion is to avoid Margaritaville as the drinks are very expensive compared to other locations along the beach.

I would contact the Wild Thing folks about your plans. I suspect that the cat does not hold much more than your group. Transport for 50 folks will/should require some planning, too. But you probably have that in hand.

For transport and tour arrangements, I recommend Dudley Warren of Big Ship Tours. He is awesome to work with, and is a friendly, safe, reliable and knowledgeable driver. We originally hired us to pick us up in MoBay and drive us to negril. We ended up calling him to arrange a day long tour for us and another coupe.... It was wonderful... He brought us all over the south side of Jamaica, to several attractions, to an off the beaten path local restaurant, as well as stopping at many little local places of interest. He was fantastic!

His buses are very clean and modern.

If you plan to go on the Wild Thing with 40-50 people then you will need to book in advance. As far as where to go, Chances is your best option since it caters to the public, is where the Wild Thing departs from and is centrally located. They will be happy for the business. Let them know as well that you are coming so they will be ready to serve that large of a group.

Wild Thing does not depart from Chances anymore - they either leave from the pier in town (where that old wrecked boat used to be) or they leave from Wild Parrot - a most excellent beach with a wonderful restaurant and bar to hang out at. Your group might be able to be picked up by the Wild Thing bus and taken there - and returned back to your cliff hotel too.

Suggestion: Look into chartering Wild Thing for your party! Take the cruise to Half Moon Beach (which will include lunch) and see that since its a charter if you can spend some "extended" time at that beach - which I think is MUCH nicer, more private, no vendors etc. - than the 7 mile (Long Bay) beach.
