Dolphin cove swimming and shows Lucea

Can anyone give me information about swimming with dolphins in Lucea (near Negril). This is an option as an excursion from my hotel (Beaches Negril). How long is the visit? I have read 2-3 hours. Is this a safe place to visit with a 6 year old? Thanks for any information!

Please don't support that type of business. You should read about how they get those dolphins, and how being contained in a tiny area for tourist enjoyment affects them. It's a terrible business, and should be banned.

Agree with Timmmaay. It is a cruel profit-driven industry. Please do some research. These places are well on their way to being shut down as more and more people around the WORLD are learning about what really goes on. Many countries are outright banning dolphin and orca captivity. Just look at what's happening at SeaWorld, for example. (stocks and attendance way down).

Sure hope you reconsider.

Not only are they hunted and taken from established pods (family units) in the wild, they are "trained" via food deprivation....very cruel.

You will love this attraction! You and your family will have a blast! We have visited the Dolphin Cove in Ochi and it was amazing! We haven't got to visit the one near Negril yet but hope to soon. The dolphins and other marine animals and birds are very well taken care of and it also creates many good paying jobs for young Jamaicans that would be without any income. We have also visited other Dolphin attractions on other islands while we were on a cruise. Go and enjoy! It will be something the whole family will enjoy and will not forget!

If you're like me and would rather see dolphins in the wild, get a driver to take you to the Pelican bar. Your captain can take you around looking for dolphins on the way to the Pelican Bar - so you get a 2 for 1 experience out of it!

In the wild its going to be a very slim of even seeing a dolphin. At Dolphin Cove you are not only guaranteed to see dolphins, but also to swim and frolic with them in the lagoon. Go and enjoy!
