Last year we took the flight from Montego Bay to Ocho, with Tim Air both to & from. I would highly recommend this. Once we landed in Jamaica a rep from Tim Air ask us if we wanted to fly to Ocho. After hearing about the long bus ride we said sure.
The flight is about 20 min up the cost line. What a view. SGOR had a van pick us up the Ocho Airport and take us to the resort. ( Another 5 min.)
We were checked in / showered / dresses / shopped at the gift shop and finished dinner, before we saw people that we on our plane just checking in. I talked to some of them and they said that they sat around the Montego Bay Airport for about 30 min., and then sat on the buss for another 45 min. before it even left. After all that it took them another 3 1/2 hours to get to the resort.
On the way home we phoned Tim Air in the Morning and flew out @ 8am, then spent our last day @ Sandals Mobay, which is right beside the airport. Left there about 5pm to catch our 6:30 flight home. People who took the bus left Ocho at 10:30 at sat in the Mobay airport from about 4pm. Losing their whole last day.
The flight cost $80.00 USD pp each way. But remember you holiday is only so long you might as well enjoy the most of it you can.
Also remember th they only fly durring day time. The runways in Ocho, dont have landing lights. You have to leave MoBay by 5pm.
timair charged us $156perperson oneway this past Oct. good luck
Thank you everyone for your info. It sounds like it's the way to go.
one more thing. captcanuk did you book before you arrived or did you just decide once you arrived at the airport?
When we first arrived in Montego Bay, there was a rep from TimAir asking everyone who came thought customs if they wanted to fly instead of taking the bus. We said ok the guy and then, we told to wait for him with or luggage in the Sandals lounge. We had one beer there then he came and got us. We were taken out to the plane along with one other couple, and loaded up.
When we were leaving Ocho, we called TimAir at 8am and quoted the price along with who our pilot was and they had a plane pick us up at 9am. Sandals took us to and from Ocho Rios Airport, and picked us up at the Montego Bay airport and took us to Sandals Mobay for the day. Sandals put our luggage in there luggage room.
