Round trip with Club MoBay - any questions?

We did the round trip service with Club MoBay Sat Dec 29th and Monday Jan 7th. We ran into a few glitches but I think we'd do it again. Let me explain.

We were scheduled to arrive on Dec 29th at 2:15 but were delayed 2.5 hours due to the weather. When we got off the plane and headed towards Immigration we saw signs for Club MoBay but no one was there to greet us. We got down into the Immigration hall after having our forms checked and went to the Tourism desk and asked if they would call Club MoBay for us as we has reservations. With in a few minutes very nice lady came over to meet us. Luckily I had brought email confirmations because it seemed like we weren’t expected. She walked us over to an Immigration line that was for flight staff and I think residence with flight connections. There were a few families in front of us but it was much faster that if we had to wait to go through the regular lines. Once we got through Immigration the woman who was escorting us found the people who should have been waiting for us. They still had the sign with our names on it in their hand but I have no idea where they had been waiting for us. My husband thinks he saw them sitting down another hallway chatting. Everyone was quite apologetic and we moved on to the Couples Lounge.

You need to be aware that the Club MoBay staff are not allowed to handle your baggage. If you want help with you bags you have to get a porter. No problem - I needed the exercise after sitting on a plane for 6.5 hrs. After checking in at the Couples lounge we had expected to escorted to TimAir. But the service ends at the Lounge. No problem. Just need to be aware of this. Unfortunately we didn't get to fly to Negril. We had to wait for another couple to get through Immigrations and by the time they got through, TimAir had sent the plane to Negril (empty?) to pick up some passengers and by the time it would get back, fly us to Negril and then back again to Montego Bay it would be too dark. Oh well, you know what they say about best laid plans. Not being able to catch the flight was in no way Club MoBay’s fault. If we hadn’t had to wait for another couple we probably would have caught the flight. In my opinion the Club MoBay arrival service was good and obviously got us through the lines quicker even with the slight delay we experienced.

Our departure with Club MoBay was better. We were again directed to a shorter line in Security area and had only 3 or 4 groups ahead of us. Once we got into the Club MoBay lounge the staff were very gracious. It was a beautiful, clean, quite lounge. Bar service as excellent. But because of my lack of knowledge of the services offered it could have been better. When we got into the lounge I looked at the sandwiches (that were perfectly fine) and decided I wanted a bigger lunch so we went to Wendy's and bought food and brought it back to the lounge. When we came back I saw other people being served food. That's when I saw the menus. Rats! I would have ordered from the menu to avoid going back into the airport and standing in the long line at Wendy's. The menu items looked very good and even though they would have been slightly more expensive than Wendy's I would have happily paid it avoided the crowds and lines. One really nice service was that we were able to leave our carry on luggage at Club MoBay when we went to Wendy's and did some duty free shopping.

Was it worth the extra $$ and would I do it again?

Even with the glitches we ran into, I enjoyed the services. But we paid $160 for the round trip which is a little pricey but I think I’d do it again. I would definitely use the service if I was arriving around holidays like Christmas, New Year's or Easter especially on a Saturday afternoon. I think I know how to avoid the delays if we ran into this problem again. It really did get us through Immigration and Security faster. I will definitely use the departure service especially if I can buy it through a resort at a reduced price. Because I wanted the arrival package I had to buy a round trip package which only offered directly through Club MoBay. It would be nice if resorts such as Couples or Sandals could offer both the round trip and departure packages at a reduced price like they currently do for the departure services. I would book through them in a heart beat.

Hope you find this information useful. Sorry it was so long.

Feel free to ask me questions.

Amethyst2421 - I am very curious to hear about your experience as you travelled during Reading week.. I will be travelling during Ontario March Break so it too will be busy - arriving on a Sat. afternoon then leaving early Sat afternoon. I am thinking about purchasing both but would like to hear what your experience was during a well known busy time of year.

Appreciate the info.

We will be arriving at MBJ on the Monday after Easter. I have heard that this is a very busy time. I was hoping that being after Easter that we could just zip through the immigration. Our last visit, I am not sure if it was the same timing, immigration was a nightmare. We were stopped "in traffic" on the ramp going down to immigration. It took us well over an hour to clear that. The luggage and customs were a snap.

I know there is no crystal but we are schedule to arrive about 10:30. Does anyone have any expericence on this time frame? I hope.

We arrived on March 30 and was greeted when we got off the plane and arrived at the end of the ramp. Our immigration documentation was checked for completeness and we were whisked by all line ups, including the immigration line that wound its way around the Immigration Hall and up the arrival ramp (much to the chagrin of many people at the end of the line). We spent about 1.5 hours standing in that line up last year. Our estimated time to deplane, go through all check-points, get our luggage and arrive at the lounge - 20 minutes - giving us lots of time to enjoy a refreshing, lemon-scented cold towel and a beverage before going to our bus.

Departing yesterday was a pleasure - we sat in a private adult's lounge and enjoyed the quiet over a glass of wine and a few snacks. For those of you with families, there's a separate family lounge with a play area for the children - just as nice. About 10 minutes before your boarding time, your flight will be announced, giving you time to make your way to your departure gate before the pre-boarding starts.

Was it worth US$160? Absolutely! Will we use it again? Definitely! I'm telling everyone I know about Club Mobay. The VIP treatment is everything that is promised on www.vipattractions.com.

This service is especially valuable for anyone with back or mobility issues that makes standing in a long line up very painful and near impossible.

If you have physical issues you can request wheelchair assistance - that will "whisk" you to the front of the line, to noone's chagrin (in case you were actually feeling badly about that, lol), you'll get through all of security etc. and taken straight to your gate - at absolutely no cost.

. I am thinking of getting the bundle this time, had the departure last time and loved it!!! But I am curious...who wants to hang around the lounge upon arrival? I will just want to waste no time and get to my hotel so my question is to those who purchases both...didn't you feel the same?

I do like the fast-track through security and immigration though but will that be worth the extra dollars. Also last time departure only cost 30.00 so why is the bundle 80.00? Shouldn't it be 60.00?

Cuddlykp,

Most people spend very little to no time in the arrival lounge. But they have very nice (clean) bathrooms and refreshments available. It's nice to have this service while you wait for your transportation to your resort. The departure lounge is where most travelers spend their time.

You probably got a special price on your departure package. Some resorts and airlines are offering this service. I haven't checked recently but I seem to remember that if you purchased the departure service thorough Club MoBay it was $40. When I used this service last Dec I wanted only the arrival part of the package but could not buy it separate. I had to buy round trip. I'm glad I did and will probably do the same thing on my next trip to Jamaica.

From what I understand, Club MoBay has to pay government fees in order to escort a passenger through the arrival process. This is where the cost is higher.

I used it in February of this year and maybe I did pay 40.00 and I did buy it directly from Club Mobay.

Still don't get why anyone would want to hang around an airport and have a drink and relax unless they knew they had to wait awhile for their ride to the hotel..but too each their own. I would rather just get to the resort and have an all-inclusive drink.

We traveled to Sandals in February and had a great time. Club MoBay was a great choice. I just wished that I tipped the girl that brought us around. She was wonderful. I tipped everyone but her. Next time I will think quicker.

wow I am a great tipper but I didn't even think about tipping the escorts at Club Mobay or do you mean the waitress in the lounge?
