Safety??

Is it safe for a 20 and 19 year old couple to go to Montego Bay? They will be staying at an all inclusive resort. What do I need to tell them to be aware of?

Thanks, from the anxious mom!

Common Sense!!! Jamaica around Montego Bay is very safe. Again just use some good old Common Sense! They will love Jamaica.

Don't get falling down drunk/stoned and make a fool of themselves, go off with strangers, flash money, wear bling, fake or otherwise and don't leave their common sense at home.

OHHHH and leave all of the fancy electronics at home as well. No need for them in Jamaica.

Agree with what has been said above. If they use common sense and keep their wits about them, they should be fine. Don't go off with someone they just met. Use only authorized taxis. It's definitely safe (within reason, just as with any city or country) and it is recommended to get away from the resort and see parts of the island. Tell them not to do anything that would make them a target (as frodo said, don't flash cash, no bling, no fancy watches or cameras, etc, etc)

Tell them to go and have a good time.

Our first time we were 22 and 24, and we made it out alive, lol!

If they are in an all inclusive resort, they will be completely fine. The worst thing that may happen there is someone offering to sell them something to smoke.

Have them put all their valuables in the safe in the room, and go have fun! :)

If they are staying at an all inclusive resort, they need to be aware of the possibility of stepping on a sea urchin while swimming. Best advice is to look before you step while swimming.

Wear lots of sunscreen and don't overindulge in food and/or drink!

Turn the phones off or they will get big roaming charges.
