Cabio's to exchange US $

Hi, I read that you get a low rate exchanging US dollars at the airport, staying at St. James and would like to know what do you recommend and where do I go to get the best rate exchange?

Also, what is the current exchange rate?

See the following three articles:

You first need to determine if you need to change any money or not (probably not in your case).

If you are going to leave the resort at all, it's best to exchange your money. You'll get differing views on this, but you are Jamaica, so it's best to use their money. Just ask a taxi to take you to the closest cambio

The current exchange rate is about $89JA to $1US.

I agree to exchange money. I use exchanged money for my budgeting and I also get a better deal in the process. This way I can get the best exchange rate possible (which is the cambio rate) without depending on the vendor's rate (which is normally in the vendor's favor). If I don't have JA money left then I don't buy the item. (I do the same thing at casinos- after I am done with $100 in chips no more gambling :)

I tip in US dollars because I go my bank up here and have my singles already partitioned for tipping.

The airport is not a good place to exchange money. Their rates are much higher than a gambio.

I did it once at the airport and will never do it again. I went to Jack Cambio in Downtown and get way better rate. It is located in front of Bay West shopping center. You couldn't miss it. Right now the rate is US$1.00= J87.00
