Which Royal Decameron for us?

We (3 couples no children) have never been to Jamaica and have decided that the best resorts within our budget are the Royal Decameron's. Which area in Jamaica does not really matter but please provide a recommendation on which resort is best with the following preferences:

Food- good food with ala carte dinner variety is most important

Live Music/Entertainment- looking for live music options rather than the typical all inclusive stage shows

Atmosphere- looking for a great outdoor atmosphere, bars/sitting areas with a view of the water or night time lighting.

Pool- we want a good pool with a swim up bar, for us beach is not real important

For a variety of meals and entertainment would it be better to go to one that has exchange privileges? How often do the shuttles run and how far away are they?

How many ala carte restaurants are at each resort?

I'm bias, but I'm going to tell you Royal Decameron Montego Bay. We've been there six times (and are booked for a seventh). We also stayed three days at RDCC but liked RDMB better. Haven't been to RDFC so can't really comment on that one. Just about every room at RDMB is ocean view, so you can sit on you balcony and look out at the water. The food isn't half bad. Decent snorkeling from the beach. A lively swim up bar. For us, RDMB just had a better all around vibe to it.

We also like Motego Bay because you are kind of central for excursions.

I have only been to RDMB. Great views of the Ocean from every room and fun little swim up bar. Great staff, clean property. If you want live music they might have it one or two nights a week, but you are in a location you could walk to entertainment. I have stayed at several resorts and the food at RDMB is very average. There is only one buffet and one reservation resturant. A small beach grill during the day with good food. If food is one of the top priorities it wouldnt be my first choice. Keep in mind though you are within walking distance to dine out for a meal or two!!

We just returned from RDFC in Runaway Bay. We had a wonderful trip and were very pleased with our choice of resorts, however, we took our kids ages 23, 20, and 16. We stayed at RDFC but spent the day and ate lunch at RDCC one day. To answer your specific questions:

Food - seemed to be a little better quality buffets at RDCC - both have 2 ala cartes - our Japenese ala carte at RDFC was very good

Live music - both have live music different nights of the week

Atmosphere - Both are beautiful resorts, but there is probably an overall better view of the water from the main bar and restaurant at RDCC

Pool - the pools are definitely better at RDFC

When we were there in early October, they had shuttle running only 3 times per day at 11am, 4pm, and 6 pm.

You cannot go wrong at either one of these places but RDCC seemed to have more Europeans and more couples. RDFC had more families but with older children. The rooms were nicer at RDFC, but still okay at RDCC.

Hope this helps and have fun!
