Snorkeling area shown on Puntacanatv.com Cabeza De Toro map

On one of puntacanatv.com GREAT maps, specifically the "Cabeza De Toro Detailed Map"

puntacanatv.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/C…

It shows an area marked as "area used for snorkeling tours 800m from beach" can anyone give me some additional information on this area? We will be at Dreams Palm Beach and it looks like this place is right offshore from the hotel. I would think it wold be easy to hitch a ride from DPB out to this area. Anyone know maybe what the area is referred to as in Punta Cana??

Snorkel gear is available at every resort ,but we always bring our own .

At the resort you can snorkel only in the roped swimming area.

You can book snorkeling trip at the resort . When we stay in the resort in Cabeza de Toro we always take a water taxi . You can go to right , at the end of the beach you can find taxi boat ( near a wire fence separating beach from the Marina ) Last time we paid $35 for two hour snorkeling for 2 people ( they have life jackets to)

Snorkeling trips are more expensive , more crowded and you spend much less time in the water.

grab a taxi boat aside the hotel to bring you to the reefarea. just for the 2 of you for around $50.- you should get a skipper with speedboat for an hour or 90 minutes to snorkel there. make sure he has life jackets on board and do use them.

You will be able to walk along the beach and secure a ride very easily by boat to many spots . The fishermen come in everyday with their catch of the day a short distance from your resort location. Walk to the right of the resort when facing the ocean- and you will see the pier and the concrete structure on the public beach area .

It really is a n awesome area to explore off resort.

Seek out a young man named Victor , that works as a speed boat excursion employee, he will help with answering questions and securing reliable boat travel to off immediate beach area snorkeling.

Lucy

Do you have Victors phone number ?

We are coming with friends in December , but stay in Bavaro area.

Can we contact him and ask for example about weather conditions ( if is good for snorkeling )

We don't want to take a taxi and find out that we can not snorkel :)))

where in Bavaro will you stay? if you stay in the bavaro beach bay then you won't need to take a taxi to cabeza de toro to hire a taxiboat here for snorkeling, you can hire a taxiboat for snorkeling right there, as off the hotelbeaches in bavaro you have the same kind of reeflines available for snorkeling.

at the now larimar you are very close to the shallow reef area which is locally known as the Pasa de Bavaro, the Bavaro Passage which is in front of the Meli Resort where boats can pass over the reef to leave the inshore waters to go offshore/outside of the reefline. you should hire a taxiboat fro snorkeling right there, safes on the cabby costs for the roundtrip to cabeza de toro which are sure around $25-$30.- each way from the now larimar, with no cabbies preent on the public beach area in cabeza de toro for the way back, you would need to go to one of the business's there so they call you a cabby, which most likely results in a slightly higher fare for the way back than the ride over there.

Than you

I wish those boats had small ladders ( even rope ladders ) because it is so hard to get back on the boat . LOL
