Finally! someone here on teh forum that has been to Macao!

All of my posts on Macao went unanswed

I was thinking that

A) people where ignoring me

or

B) nobody goes there

So, can you tell me, how does their restaurant reservations work?

One day after arriving I turn 40 and I really want to spend that evening in a restaurant but hear different things about how easy/hard it is to reserve.

Can you only book one place at the time or book a few restaurants in advance?

Reservations are taken outside the buffet area by the Japanese restaurant. We only ate at the steakhouse and Krystal, the rest of the time we ate the buffet. We celebrated my birthday while there they made me a cake. I can't remember what time the reservations table is open but just check after you have breakfast. You might have to stand in a little line. We found the buffet good and we had 3 couples so we just ate there most of the time. The lunch buffet area off the pool turns into the Italian/Steakhouse for dinner. Krystal is right around the corner from that. In the evening get a table on the patio quickly as they will fill up fast they have live music, dancing and they have the animaction team getting people involved so they will try to get you to dance with them and then they escort you back to your seat. We found all the staff very polite and engaging.

The coffee shop was great and we found all the drinks at the macao tasty. I took a pool noodle and am glad i did for the big pool i could just float on it. Unfortunately there is no beach bar so take a bubba mug. We would return to the Macao.

We loved the Macao the buffet was excellent, breakfast was the best. The beach is fabulous and if you don't want to do the small buffet for lunch the steak house serves lunch which most people don' know about. We will be at the Grand Palladium from Jan 18 - Feb 1st not because we didn't love the Macao we just wanted to try a bigger resort.

I booked Riu Macao for May 6 - May 13. I had previously stayed at Macao before the recent renovations. We loved it then. The beach has a large palm grove, allowing for lots of shade if you want it...you can of course still get full sun on the beach. We did not use the pool that time, we felt it wasn't anything special and opted for the beach. We took a walk through the Macao after renovations (we were at the RPPC) everything looks great and the addition of swim-up bars and pool bars make the pool much more appealing.

As for dinner reservations, when we stayed there, you could make reservations at breakfast, up to 3 nights in advance. From what I've heard from reviews and posters, it's still done this way...no long wait.

Hope you enjoy your trip.

I forgot to mention the reservations are easy we just went outside the door at breakfast and reserved for the night or you can reserve for a couple of nights.
