barcelo bavaro palace room questions

hi all. going to the barcelo barvaro palace in two weeks, if anyone has been there what is the best room and building to ask for, we want to be closest to the beach and away from alot of the noise. I know it is a silly request but any help would be appreciated. Also how do you make reservations for the dinner resturants , best time to make them and any recomendations that you have. How is the casino at the barcelo resort ?? or is it worth to go to any other one in that area, and can i walk there or have to take a taxi??

thanking you in advance---lew

1. Re: barcelo bavaro palace room questions

I returned from the Palace on Jan. 29. A beatiful place. There are five buildings. One and two are on either side of the lobby/bar/restaurant/buffet/pool area, and would therefore be noisier. This could be bothersome in the evening if you like to go to bed earlier, because the evening entertainment starts between 10 and 10:30 pm. We were in buidling three and it was absolutely quiet. I would recommend it. Four and Five are further down the beach, away from the lobby/pool/restaurant area. All are about equally close to the beach. Each room has a sideways ocean view. Even if you are in building four or five, it is only a few minutes walk to the rest of the resort--and a beautiful walk at that. Each building has only three stories and 33 rooms on each level. The rooms are spacious and have ironing boards, coffee maker, a stocked mini-bar, TV with lots of channels, large bathroom area, and toiletry amenities. Our daughters in the room next door also had white robes, but we did not.

You do not need reservations for the restaurants--just go when you want.

The casino is about a 12 minute walk away, or you can take the 24 hour mini-train from hotel to hotel, which is quite fun, and a little faster than walking.
