Just got back from punta cana here is the scoop 1/22- 1/29

I stayed at Natura park, south bavaro beach, by allegro and sunscape.

--The beach is great, very clean, water is safe to swim, there are no waves, they all crash on a reef about 1/2 mile out.

--Mosquitos, I saw 3-4 maybe got bit a couple times, feel fine

--Saona island trip, great time $85 through the hotel, leaves at 7:30 get back around 6:00pm, scraped up my knees playing volleyball, don't dive. the food on the beach i though was no good, but some people were raving about it. water is blue beach is nice, reminds me of the beach at the hotel though.

--Macao beach, we took a taxi from the hotel here round trip $45, huge waves brought the hotel boogie board had a great time, you cannot touch though good surf spot great work out trying to swim out, 1-200 yards out big ones. bring food! and water, tours stop here also but gets crowded.

--booze cruise, a must, fun crew plenty of drinks, should have booked it twice, $60, meet lots of people.

--weather, i had 3-4 days of clouds with one of those being rain, that has never happened on my vaca before, real bummer. the sun when out is intense

--other tourists, very nice, 3 of ten speaks english

--heard great things about the outback tour but did not do it.

-- Tips, I tipped about $150 while i was their, the service is great and ignore the "tips are included" they make $250 per month, $9 a day. Give them five for a nice dinner... start out with a 5 tip for drinks to start get better service faster drinks...

-- currency --is pesos 30 to 1 dollar is the exchange, i never exchanged, US cash is fine for everything.

--Casino--at the allegro? very small but fun, free drinks at bar, a couple tables roullete, black jack $10 min, and 3 card poker I lost bigtime at. I'd say 40' by 50' total size,

--night clubs outside resort i went to one that was a bust, but heard about better ones

--games--they supply the tennis raquets, ping pong everywhere, BRING A DECK OF CARDS, bochy ball on beach, soccer, volleyball, plenty to do

--booked through apple, $900 after tax and all, $740 before air from chicago and 7 nights all inc.

-- food --was not good, i ate alot of french fries, they did have hot dogs and burgers fries from 12am to 7am this was a life saver, the tacos were horrible, no salsa, other people thought the food was great so it may be me, but i am not a picky eater.

any q's let me know

also--the hotel was at capacity while we were their, but never seemed crowded, but they keep it full all the time. from the message board i thought it would be empty..oh no...

did not try any dessert, pick and choose you'll be fine. plenty of places to walk very nice. not too much to explore and you prob don't want too on the drive out you pass massive poverty.

- also interesting thing about the staff i mentioned they make $250 a month, but all their food and housing is free, makes it a good gig when you look at the alternatives.
