Hi Gilmour, if you would like to consider the South Coast, LaRomana / Bayahibe I would like to recommend Sunscape Casa Del Mar.

Above is my gallery of photoshows that show Casa Del Mar. Click on any of the pictures, they turn into a show and have captions and music.

Hi Gilmour93 I don't have an exact suggestion but keep in mind the size of some of these resorts. My Mom and her friends went to Melia Caribe/Tropical and they complained about how far everything was from their room.

along the same line as Jenazz suggestion. I went to Tropical Princess/Caribe Princess it was 2 doors down from the Bavaro Princess and is part of the same family of resorts. Last I looked it was quite a bit cheaper than the Bavaro Princess. The beach was gorgeous, the food was very good, we did not get sick at all. I ate so many delicious 2 egg omlettes that my cholesterol may have hit record numbers. (hated the dominican a la carte restaurant and I was not the only one) the place offered 3 pools, so if you want to be near the activities you go near the activity pool, if you want to read in peach , you go to the quiet pool. It is very compact and very easy to use meaning easy to find everything, easy to walk around to follow the map and discover the other builings. It was very well priced, most people spent about 1200$ Canadian from Montreal or Ottawa, so it would be cheaper from Toronto. When looking into prices keep in mind the only difference between the tropical side and the caribe club was the tropical people had to pay to use 3 of the 5 a la carte restaurants (8$ US each per meal)which worked out to 24$usd each extra and the difference of list price between the two resorts is much more than that! Keep it in mind. The VIP is hit or miss depending on how much your parents will use the services. ie massage, motorized water sports, internet, one dinner at CAVA or ELPESCADOR ($25US each) etc. For me it was not worth it.

Just booked Sirenis Tropical Suites for 3/30-4/9 for 160 per couple per night

Used www.AtlasVacations.net

Call them and ask for Annie. She booked my special rate.

Or call hotel to book directly and ppay only $6 more per night.

We went to this resort 2 years ago and have been dreaming of going back. Read the reviews and look at the pictures and you will see what I mean.

Plus this is by far the best price for any Punta Cana resort for the high season.

Baltobabe and Jenazz have great taste...I think. Loved CDM & BP...I would look at what your parents are most interested in (my mom is a pain about food, but not so much about rooms, for example--or swim up bar, nightlife, casino), and see what kind of good deal they can get for the week they want. A good deal ALWAYS makes the resort more appealing! I hope they have a great time...AI's are addictive (trust me...we need a support group-LOL)

Gilmour: In Canada it is less common to book the flight and the hotel seperately, we have less direct flights to this destination unless we book a charter. by the time you pay the flight only portion of the charter and negotiate a rate for the hotel, pay for the transfer, buy the visa etc you are paying the same in most cases as booking a package anyway and less hastle. If you can get your parents to leave on a Friday from Toronto it is about 50$ less expensive per person. An example of what I was talking about earlier about booking at the Tropical instead of the Caribe Club Princess is this: TP: Mar 17-27 $1329 CCP: same date and flight $1429. $100 less for the TP and the only difference is having to pay for 3 a la cartes (8$ US each) you are saving about $70 per person by booking the tropical princess. If they even want to try the other a la cartes (Chinese, Mexican and Italian - all very good) Brazillian and Dominican were included.

The Casa del Mar (75min from PC airport) is a bit more expensive and by all reports is gorgeous also, was $1479

As Mountainman was saying, $160 is a good rate for that hotel (Sirenis, I think he said) but add 800$ each for the flight and you are not saving much if anything.

I'm going to back up what dropusaline said about Caribe Club Princess. There are three pools, loud, kids and noisy and very peaceful.

The restaurants are close to the rooms as well as the beach/pools. The resort is great and very freindly. The beach is great. The food is very good. At night the resort is peaceful, but lively at the lobby/theatre. Not far from the Lobby is the disco. The price falls into the low to medium for Bavaro beach with excellent/clean facilities.

By the way, please keep this to yourself as if others find out how great this resort is, it will go up in price and be too crowded.

I am with you NSSunseeker! It is very well priced for the stuff we had. the layout was ideal, the size was just right and the food was great except for the Dominican a la carte, try it - it is free but get an early sitting, that way if you don't like it you can finish your meal at the buffet!!!
