Barcelo Bavaro Beach and Caribe???

Hey everyone... I am just curious if anyone has any comments about this resort? About the food, pool, bars, entertainment for 19 year olds? Anything will help, there isn't very much info about this resort? Any good drinks to suggest? Going the 18th to the 25th of Dec!! Thanks!

Just type in Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort in google and you should see a number of comments about this resort posted on trip advisor. Was there this past February -- had a great time and I think you will really like the place. Checking in might be a bit of a hassle -- no rushing the locals. Far beyond 19, but I think there is enough 'stuff' to keep you enterrained. Beaches are beautiful -- service good. Drinks are plentiful -- try the loco oco -- if I remember correctly. Enjoy your vacation.

It would be very much appreciated! Hope you have a great time...I heard that this resort has the biggest bar in Punta Cana.

We had a great time at this resort Nov 11-18. The food was pretty good at all the restaurants, and you don't have to make reservations or limit yourself to one visit. We spent most of our time by the pool, as the weather wasn't exactly the best, and the staff at the pool bar were great.

The rooms were clean (We stayed at the Caribe) and the fridge was stocked daily.

Check in was a bit of a gong show, as there were about 4 busloads that arrived at the same time, and they weren't exactly oranized at the front desk. It took us about an hour to get to our room. Good thing they hand out drinks while you wait in line!!

We went to the Disco twice and had a great time. There were 4 of us in our group, ages 27, 30, 32 and 46. We danced all night (doesn't open till around midnight) and had a blast. The music was mostly top 40, with some 80's and rock. There is a smaller disco that is open to locals and it is kind of outside. We didn't make it to this one, but friends we met did and they had fun. Just don't get left alone as the local guys start harrassing you the minute you are by yourself.

I would reccomend this resort as we didn't have any huge issues, beside Mother Nature not cooperating with wind, some rain and a less than perfect ocean. I have pictures at:

Caribe Club is a fantastic resort. i was there last April with some friends and one of them a travel agent who has been everywhere and this is now her new fav resort. The rooms are clean, bathrooms nice and big, fridge is always stocked, the food was good, and that is good comming from me who is a very picky eater, try the mexican restaurant it was great. when you eat at the buffet everynight when we left we asked for bottles of wine and they gave them to us to bring to our rooms, the beach is right there, not like some resorts where you have to walk 15mins, The lobby party and disco is GREAT, if you wanna party you are defiently in the right place, every night they have a show, then after they have a lobby party till the disco opens at midnight, yes there are locals, but hell they make it even that much more fun, who wants to spend their night life in the carribean feeling like they are home, some can be pushy, just push back that is what we did, we went everynight most nights comming out when the sun was comming out, we never had any problems, if you want to try another disco too there is Mangu it is at the Occidental grand flamenco we went there alot the year before when our resort didnt have a disco and went back to visit last year. If you are staying at Caribe, you will defiently have a blast

I stayed at the Caribe hotel (nov. 20th to 27th), and it was very nice. The good thing about this resort is that it is actually 5 different hotels, so you can use the pools, etc of the other hotels, depending on which all-inclusive package you have. Their is a tram that comes every 15 minutes that picks you up and drops you off at the hotels.

The palace and caribe have the nicest pools. If you want peace and quiet, try the casino or golf.

The palace has the best dinner buffet, i thought. Wasn't very pleased with the steak house. Mexican and Dominican restaurants are good.

The others are right about the check-in process. when we got their, it was very confusing and not well organized at all. Basically everyone just went for the front desk without forming lines, and the front desk staff seemed over-whelmed.

The room was comfortable, nothing fancy, but was clean and perfectly ok. The only thing was the adapter in the bathroom did not work very well, so using the hair dryer was a bit tricky. So just check it out for yourself. I believe the front desk will give you another one.

As for nightlife, we went one night to the main Bavaro Disco, and it was all latin music. Not sure if other nights have more "north american" type music or not. But people were enjoying themselves.

Their is also the Vegas-type show at the Casino, every night except sundays. its ok, not fabulous or anything, but worth seeing.

Check out the flea market, its down past the palace hotel on the beach. You need to really bargain or they will take you for a ride.

All in all, its a very nice resort and we would go back again.

marg20 - How was the ocean water? Swimmable? Was it pristine blue right from the shore?

Venus- I actually didn't go in the ocean (more of a pool person), but from the beach shore the water looked pretty blue, and not murky.

Just returned last night from the Barcelo resort. Everything was wonderful. The ocean was warm and clear. Food was good. Nothing to complain about. The hotels are all decorated for Christmas and all the palm trees are decorated with white lights.

You will have a geat time.
