Just got back from 2 weeks in the Dom Rep on and we are feeling a bit down, When we arrived at the LTI it was pouring with rain and this lasted for 4 days. The hotel it self is well presented with a large lobby/reception, the desk staff were polite but uninformative. We were in block 5 which is near the beach but also near a building site, which has flood lights on all night, work commenced at about 07.30 am and finished at about 19.30 pm. Our room was a basic double with en suite but there was this musty smell which didn't go away, ( it was the mattresses and the protector ) The sheets are changed every other day and the towels everyday if you want.
The Breakfast buffet had a good selection and the freshly cooked omelettes, fried eggs, pancakes and the fresh fruit were very good but the pre prepared hot food was not kept at a correct temperature and was always cold when you got to your seat, the same applied to the afternoons and evenings and this is probably the reason why we were both ill during our stay.
They have 3 further restaurants, a grill which serves food lunchtime and BBQ's all night, an Italian which you can reserve for the evenings and an a la cart which also need reservation for evening meals.
Entertainment was provided by the ANIMATION team and local dancers from Santa Domingo and no 2 shows were the same. The only unfortunate thing was some of the material used was not for children and this should have been better thought out.
The small disco bar which started at 23.00 hrs till 02.00 am was also a bit of a let down, as this was used as a personal playground for the Animation team and the music was sometimes too heavy and way too loud for such a small space. Not enough entertainment for the daytime especially when it was raining, thank goodness for UNO!!
All in all the facilities are basic and you need to be prepared to keep yourself entertained at times. The atmosphere was good and the staff friendly. Bring plenty of Imodium and sickness tablets and all should go well, weather permitting.
