Eating/Drinking outside hotel

Hi staying at Riu Palace Macao at Christmas and New Year. I do like to try places outside the complex for meal and drinks? Is there anywhere near? Worth going out? All info helpful

Nothing within walking distance.

It’s a long stretch of beach with resorts, it’s not within a town village.

I find Google earth is very helpful in checking out resort locations.

kaz046,

There are numerous locations that would require you taking a short taxi ride into the areas of EL Cortecito, Fruisa, Bavaro and Los Corales - as an example:

Below is a few facebook sites for some club/bar/local/beach bars.. might help you decide where you want to go.

For dining:

Captain Cooks in El Cortecito – specialize in Caribbean, Seafoods & Sushi – vegetarian friendly & on the beach

Jellyfish - in Bavaro Beach - Caribbean, Seafoods, Paasta, Steaks – vegetarian friendly

Right on the beach in Bavaro

These two are indeed expensive - expect to pay at least $75 US per person at these two - but the seafood at Jellyfish is outstanding !

Another highly rated restaurant is called La Palapa - located south of the Cap Cana Marina in Cap Cana and is right on the beach.

It specializes in Seafood, Caribbean and Japanese foods.

For good Dominican Food - Delicias de Bavaro by the Avalon Casino in Bavaro – good local foods & very inexpensive

Noah - hard to find but easy to get to! – in the San Juan Plaza - Excellent menu and service – Caribbean, Seafood, Sushi

https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review…

Mama Luisa's - close to the airport with fantastic pasta dishes.

Chez Mon Ami – a long time favourite in EL Cortecito - with a simple menu...French, European Foods - excellent food.

I also like the small restaurants in Los Corales - just past the the Barcelo Dominican Beach resort in the plaza on the left side of the road where the Bam Market is located - in particular, Dalias for breakfast and for lunch. They are very reasonable in their prices and i always enjoyed the food - would have a full breakfast for about $3US each.

As I mentioned - you likely may have to take a taxi from your resort to get to many of these locations, depending on which resort you have booked.

Although I have not personally had the pleasure of dining at everyone of these restaurants, they are highly rated by a few local people I know and whose opinions I could certainly rely on.

I hope this does help.

Sincerely

John

Bubba...you list is very outdated. I found at least 5 places you listed that have not been here for 3 or more years...some for more than 7 years.

What I would suggest for a meal and drinks is a place called Noah. It is located beside the San Juan Shopping Center (right behind the Ikea). It has never disappointed us and is a regular stop for many living here.

You can take the complimentary shuttle from your resort to the San Juan and then just walk across (45seconds). I would go for lunch! There are other eating options right beside it such as Andres Carnes, Punto Italia, Matilda and Quiksilver. All serve excellent food.

For a Dominican experience, Delicias de Bavaro, located on Avenida Espana. You would need a cab.

Cheers,
