I don't think I've seen this question answered before. I'm a Canadian citizen who is residing in the United States with a green card. I'm heading down to PC on June 28 for a stay at the Majestic. I mailed in my passport to Gatineau for renewal on March 27. I figured I had lots of time, but from what I hear on other forums it is now taking up to 14 weeks to get them back. This will be about 4 days too late for me! I'm going to do everything I can to get my passport in time, but if I can't, do I really require it? From what I can see, Canadian citizens only require a driver's license and a birth certificate to get into the DR (of course my birth certificate is with my passport application but I can get a new one expedited). Also, from reading this, dhs.gov/xtrvlsec/…3 my U.S. greencard should be sufficient to get me back into the US as it is an acceptable alternate document. Do I have this right? I'd just like to have a fallback to take some of the stress off. Even if I am right, would I have problems with the airlines since they may not be completely up to date on the regulations (I'm flying out of the US). Who would I call to verify this information, the DR embassy, the US embassy, State Department, American Airlines? Thank you in advance.
