There is a shuttle and the drive takes about 10 minutes. They might collect you after having stopped at all the other area hotels, or at the beginning. It might then be the reverse on your way home at the end of the night.

I think it's definitely worth it. They have evening entertainment and it's also a way to see a bit of the local area, like Dominicus, when you're staying at the other tourist area of Bayahibe where Dreams is. It's also good for those staying at the other hotels because Dreams is so far in off the street. It's not like the other resorts where you can see it from the street. When you crest the hill between the Dreams driveway and Bayahibe and look toward the sea you get a great aerial view of the blue roofs which is fun, but few are aware enough to catch the moment when driving at speed!

It's a good location for people watching too, where you can see some of the hotel staff on their time off as well as the people staying at the other area resorts. It's a wonderful opportunity for those people who are staying in the area at one hotel while friends are staying at another. I get requests for things to do together quite often and the casino has made for a great solution.

Edited to add: Unless it's changed names again, it's now going under the title of "Casino Monte Carlo" and not Casino Dominicus.

Actually, the correct name of the casino is "Casino Diamante Dominicus Bayahibe".

Diamante is the Brand actually.

Its the brand name for the biggest's investors company (Edmond Elias), which is casinos and betting businesses, as well as the Miss Dominican Republic organisation.

I don't even remember that it was ever called Monte Carlo. It went from Dominicus Casino to Casino Diamante Dominicus Bayahibe

BTW we haven't had any problems with Tomas so far in Bayahibe and I hope it will stay that way. You can read my daily (or multiple daily now:) weather updates for Bayahibe at

I have a picture of a sign that says Casino Monte Carlo! I've been too busy for the last year to do my diligent albums so I don't know if I could find it now, but I'll post it if I find it. That may've been at a minute when they were really promoting the Monte Carlo style casino. Are they still doing that? I felt that a name change was happening so that's why I said that it might not be that any longer.

The picture means nothing, believe me.

When the casino was CLOSED for over a year, there were a few advertising ads going around under the name of Casino Monte Carlo, but that name never happened as the investors who were supposed to take over the Casino never did. There was a mayor scam and fraud behind it.

The Casino never actually went under the name of Casino Monte Carlo officially, since the opening date (as you well know) kept belating and belating..... and never actaully open under Monte carlo administration.

The moment Edmond Elias appeared in the picture, the casino reopened under his Casino brand and administration, and finally solved all ecenomical troubles.

Back from our wonderful holiday at Dreams.....just wanted to set the record straight as far as Casino Dominicus is concerned.....

There is no shuttle from Dreams La Romana to the casino....there is a shuttle to other hotels but Dreams isn't included.....it cost a $20.00 taxi ride to get there and $20.00 back to the resort. It was interesting to see and we are glad that we made the trip.

I'm appalled that the price was $20 each way. It's quoted as $10 one way from anywhere in the area to anywhere in the area. If it's doubled, that's scandalous. I wonder what their reasoning is. Time of day and gas prices don't fly with me.

WOW that is pretty expensive because normally the taxi is 10 USD each way. Must be the night surcharge then.

There is a bus (looks like a school bus) with the dance club name BUBARABA on it and it does go from Bayahibe village to the casino, but probably does not go to Dreams. That's too bad

If it is a night surcharge, it's new (and lame). I took a cab from Dreams to Bayahibe regularly at 12:30 a.m.
