In one word...YES. Great seafood and lots of locals, expats and tourists eating there. The best place is along the road on the east side. Huge place with a very large outdoor kitchen. you can't miss it as there will te lots of cars and trucks parked besides it. If you get to a small mini mall you went about 100 meters too far.

Here you can get your food from the cafeteria like line or go with your waiter and pick out your fish from the "market". We love the grouper or Chillo (red snapper). You can get a whole 4-5 pound fish to share with all the sides and drinks and pay less than $20.

A real experience and a good one at that. One of our favorite places to take visiting friends and family

Don't know the name, but you won't miss it. It is quite large with a long cafeteria like line in the front and to the right of the restaurant. ON the right side of the road as you leave Puerto Plata. If you go at lunch time lots of trucks will be parked along the road.

BObK can you tell me if its far by taxi from the Bachata? And what should we tell the taxi driver is the destination, just Maimon?

It should run you about $25 or so round trip. Make him wait for you or return for you and pay him only when you return.

Just tell him you want the fish places on the main road.

Love the fish in Maimon!!! We have been there several times - usually with our Dominican "family" - we pick up the fish and sides on our way to the beach.
