Hiking to Boeri Lake

We are thinking of a hike to the Boeri Lake while we are on a cruisestop. As we understood the hike starts at the freshwater lake and is about 30 minutes each way.

Our questions:

1. Is it advisable to hire a guide for the trail or is it easy to walk there?how much would a taxi cost to go to fresh waterlake tostart the hike

2. Are there tours available which leave from Roseau and offer this hiki, maybe together with a stop at the falls?

Thanks a lot

No need for a guide. Your shoes likely will end up somewhat wet and muddy. The trail elevation puts it in the path of some passing clouds. Clouds are on the cool side and damp. While easy for established hikers, the length, the ups and downs and the native earth surface put it beyond the reality of most day visitors.

I think the hike around freshwater lake is just as good as Boeri and its a circular hike.

Are there also some nice views while hiking around the lake or is is just a flat walk?

As long as the clouds are not in there are great views down both sides of the island. As with most hikes on the island there are some good elevation gains and losses. Beware of the slippery downhills!!

The coastal road itself has lots of views. When I think of the east coast I think more about waterfalls, Sari Sari and Victoria.
