A wedding ceremony in Dominica

Our daughter is marrying a young man from Dominica in Roseau in 2 weeks' time. Is the format of the wedding the same as in the UK ? As father of the bride, do I have any responsibilities in the ceremony and reception ? Any other advice about the event would be gratefully received.

Hi Phil,

Depends a bit on the exact population category of the groom & family, and his/their religion.

If it's Christians in any form, expect similar as traditional UK; including the bride's father (optionally) having to 'give her away'. But there'll probably also a few local rites involved, e.g. smashing a coconut to invoke prosperity. If other religious influences expect more local rituals...

All the best,

<Erik> & [Sandya] / (foster-)parents of other-culture people that also married...
