A day in Curacao

We are traveling on a cruise (in port from 8:00-4:00) and have never been to Curacao; we are thinking of spending a few hours at a beach then get dropped off at the downtown area to do a bit of shopping and looking around, then walk back to the ship.

Is this possible or are we crazy? Can anyone recommend a beach that we should do? I have looked at Cabana beach and Cas Abou.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

This is very possible to do. You might want to rent a car, Cas Abou, being a beautiful beach is about 45 min from the ship. Blue Bay beach is closer and you could cab it there, also very pretty beach.

The cruise ships let you off a short walk from the shopping district. As for a beach, I can't remember the names, but the sea aquariam area has a public beach and there's a place to change, etc. I believe it has a very small charge. There's also snack bars in that area too.

Rent a car for when you dock....get off the ship right away....and drive around the Island, stopping at a beach or 2...Cas Abou is fantastic...then drive back and drop off the car and spend an hour or 2 around town.
