Do they have texas hold em at any of the casinos in Curacao? We are staying at the breezes but want to see the other resort casinos as well...
Yes, I know that the Marriot has a 4 tables that are not always used but I believe that is volume of guests. The Holiday Hotel near the Marriot also advertises Texas Hold em.
We just returned from Curacao (12/18/07-12/24/07). My son and husband are the poker players. The Holiday Beach hotel is the only casino they were able to locate that had regularly scheduled Texas Hold 'Em games. There were some players who were serious players and many players with a lot of cash who would go all in with little to nothing by way of cards. A lot of the players knew each other it seemed.
They got up a game at the Marriott by getting other interested parties to sign up. The Casino staff there (at the Marriott) were very cooperative but they won't just open up a table unless they know there is genuine interest and at least six interested players. Once open, however, the table stayed open until very wee hours.
The Princess Casino (Breezes) has 3 card poker. My husband won a bit at the game. They also have Caribbean Poker, but we didn't play. Roulette and BlackJack were the other table games.
What's that one called.........video poker, or something like that. Do they have that at Breezes? Darn, we never do well at casinos but hubby did well with that one video poker or whatever it is in a casino on Aruba.
In July the casino at Breezes (Princess casino) didn't have video poker...the reason I remember that was because my youngest son first played it in the Bahamas the year before and did so well on it... that when we went to Curacao last year.. that was the first thing he looked for when we went to the casino...and unfortunatly for him they didn't have it...but he did find a slot machine he did very well at.. he's lucky anyway!
I am so unlucky when it comes to gambling....if I spend $20 and get nothing in return I get upset....doesn't sound like much but to think I could buy a couple things to bring home with that money makes me angry at myself.
get away from it all, I'm usually not too lucky either,, but at times I have had lucky streaks,,, I'm not a big gambler.. . I usually don't look for the big wins,, I'm just happy if the machine doesn't suck up my 20 dollars quickly and not let me play..when that happens it seems as if I always say what a waste ...you know what I could of done with that money..and know to walk away.. but on the other hand,, If I take my 20 or 40 and play for a bit I'm a happy camper.. and usually when you aren't looking to win and just have fun with it that is when you do hit...thats happened to me a couple of times,, each one was sooooo unexpected,, didnt even know I won anything..never mind a good amount.. but truthfully I know exactly how you feel but I'm learning to let my hair down a bit, have fun and let it go...
I'm sure I'll try it at least once....there's always the anticipation of the thrill of the kill. LOL, but I won't waste much time or money........I have a sister who has a real problem with casinos.....after watching her, maybe that's why I feel the way I do.
get away from it all,, yeah its scary to see some people who get carried away with the gambling,,and especially if its someone in your family! We just dabble for fun never got carried away that much! I agree with you,, when you're on vacation there are so many things to see and do... sitting at a casino for periods of time is such a waste.. and money,, well,, there are so many things you can do with that on vacation...other than gambling.. thats why we visit them we have a specific amount to spend and when thats gone,, we're gone...figure the casinos are there,, you have to visit them and gamble a little bit just to see and experience... but thats about it.. ! But anyway,, the video poker looks like alot of fun (if you like cards.Im not a big fan) but my son enjoyed it and I thought watching it was pretty neat.....
