Another update from Breezes headoffice !

For everyone going to Breezes:

Sorry for the late response. It is a pleasure to resolve your queries. AS you mention there are mixed reviews, SuperClubs have invested every year on the up grade of the property. We had some issues with bath tubs in the Royal Tower as they where repainted and unfortunately the paint did not resist the water, reason why this year all bathrooms in Royal Tower and block 7 the Pelican wing, have been remodeled completely with brand new tubs and vanities for the Tower and implementation of modern showers and vanities

in the Pelican Wing.

We are also acquiring a brand new kids club which will,

for sure, keep parents happy and kids as well.

Royal Tower has been completed and Pelican Wing will be completely done by mid November.

We appreciate your concerns and if there is anything we can do to help with your stay, do not hesitate to let us know.

Hope this helps ease some travellers minds.

Going in Dec /06 to Breezes Superclub, do you know what electrical they have is it 110 or 220 as were from Toronto.

I called the toll free number and they advise us there is no construction going.

How is the food, I hope its not like the DR (as we were all sick)

Any idea of $$ for doing things, like renting a car, moped,etc.......

thanks for your help.

The electrical is the same as ours.....no worries.

Our car rental from the Marriott was about $80/day, cheaper by the week if you can use it for that whole time. I imagine it's about the same through Breezes.

We travelled with Sunquest and they had a coupon which brought the car rental price down to about $67/day which was a nice surprise. You may have something like that with your travel agent too so check.

You'll have a great time!

We were in the DR in Feb of this year. In Bayahibe, La Romana area---new chain of hotels around 5-6 yrs old along the beach.

It was extremely nice.

We were re-routed from Cozumel to DR due to hurricane Wilma.

Anyways, we were really worried about the DR as it is well known for stomach upset/problems.

However, the resort we stayed in was a 5+ star and it was out of this world.

None of us or anyone we spoke to had any problems with their stomachs/systems and we all had a great time.

Curacao is an island where the water is all treated so you could drink straight from the tap if inclined. If you watch what you eat (amount and spiciness) and what you drink (amount and strength) you should be fine.

Jamaica is another island where the water is treated so you don't have to worry aobut that, however, I remember over indulging in Pina Coladas one day on the beach and ended up having to see the hotel doctor. Pina Coladas have coconut milk in them and coconut is a natural laxative---why did no one ever tell me that??--LOL. So..............stay away from coconut based drinks and dishes, some islands (like the DR) cook with coconut oil.

Do you think maybe that was what upset your stomachs in the DR?

Take care
