Trip Report 11/15 - 11/20/13

We took our first trip to Curacao in November. Although it was short, we saw enough to know we had to plan a trip back. We rented our car through D & D Car Rental. Daniel met us at the airport and helped transport our luggage to our villa. We stopped at the Centrum to pick up some supplies and he helped us navigate the store. His services throughout the trip (we had a flat tire) were topnotch and we will rent with him again. We stayed at Flamingo Villa in Coral Estates. The villa was beautiful, extremely well appointed. We had incredible views. I'd highly recommend staying there. We are avid snorkelers so we spent much of our time at the various snorkeling spots. Our favorites were Tugboat and also Cas Abou where we saw a giant manta ray. We also hit several other beaches. All in all the trip was too short and we hope to get back there in the spring.

Glad to read we weren't the only ones who fell in love with Curacao. We will be back next November if not sooner. I've heard May is a good time, as the waters are like glass.

Somehow, Curaçao has a way of doing that. We visited on a whim in 2004 to burn some Marriott and American Airlines miles and have vacationed there every year since. Been to other islands, but nothing else compares. Bought our own place at Blue Bay in 2011 so now we can now go at least three times a year.

May is a good time, as it's after the big cruise season. No matter when you go, the weather is always great.

The island does have a way of getting to you. We went there on a whim because of my dutch background and discovered it was better than we imagined. Went back a few times and it was always good, no bad experiences,. Started our retirment planning and bought a condo on the island at Royal palm resort. It had more of a local feel .

My advise to you . Be careful or the island may get you too.

Thanks for posting. We've been to Aruba twice (love it) and are thinking about Curaçao in the near future.

Thanks for posting your report. Glad you had a great trip.

We rented from Daniel too and had a great experience. SO EASY! We won't need to shop around for car rental companies next time. We felt the same way about Curacao and are already plotting our return trip as well.

Where is Blue Bay on the Island? Are you happy with the condo? Thanks
