Interested in going to Havana.... however, need access to Internet.

Are there WIFI hotspots anywhere in Havana? Hotels? If yes, a couple of more questions:

What is the cost? Per hour? Per day?

Does it allow user to VPN?

Thx for all your help.

I typically like to have daily access to the internet.

Saratoga and Cohiba hotels…the best.

There is WIFI in a couple of other Hotels.

I may be wrong but I think it is around 12 cuc per hour or something like that.

I have used an Iphone registered in the States at both locations.

There a number of business centers offering Internet access as well. Almost all Hotels do have Internet access currently.

Do not expect the speed you get there BTW. Be patient!...lol..

Voy, 12 cuc an hour? My god.

Take Voy's speed-warning seriously. I tell you, in some of these hotels (Inglaterra, Nacional, St. John, Ambus Mundos) it takes about 3 minutes from when you click on an e-mail until it shows. After you're done writing and click 'send' it takes 2 minutes before the page shifts.

I would recommend Cuba for about a million purposes in life. To someone addicted to being online all the time, I would recommend everywhere else :-)

Parque Central has WIFI.

As of Sept it was 8 CUC/ hr. on an ETECSA card.

Log on download your email then log off.

Compose, log on and hit send 8 CUC goes a long way.

Steve_YYZ: Your knowledge of Cuba and your willingness to share information is pretty astounding, as is your ability to express your points not only through words, but also with photos (ie: view from rooftop of Hotel Saratoga)! Given your experience, what’s on your bucket list in Cuba?

I just was in Panorama hotel. Wi fi is ok. You can browser internet, send email quickly. Speed is about like dial up. Only first day I could use Skype, other days is was to slow. Some days I could not login into wi fi. Melia Havana was close by, and I could use Skype. VPN to my work also works which used IPSec/UDP

Hi,

Can you please tell me how you were able to get your iphone to work in Havana. Did you have to get a Cubacel simm for your phone to work?

And what did you need to do to get email on the iphone while at the hotels?

Thank you

I know of wireless internet connection in Parque Central Hotel. You buy the access.

As for wireless internet at a private house?

Extremely unlikely.
