Cuba Cruise

Can anyone tell me when we get to Cuba from Cruise ship, beside joy shore exclusion. Can we go shopping or to the beach on our own by using their taxi? Or do have to go back to the ship right after the tour? Anyone been there? Am I going to get in trouble? Hope someone can answer my question. I called 3 cruise lines, none seems to have an answer. Thank you.

You do not have to go on tours thru the cruise company.

On the OFAC Declaration Form, select "Support for the Cuban People" as your reason for visiting Cuba.

Then, you are free to go out and about on your own and free to select your own tour company, if desiring an excursion. Relax. There is no "trouble".

There are lots of taxis waiting near the cruise terminal.

Some previously recommended tour companies:

Some things you can do on your own (without a guide):

San Francisco de Asis Square (Across the street from the cruise terminal)

Plaza Vieja

Calle Obispo

Parque Central

Almacenes San Jose Artisans Market

El Capitolo

Hotel Nacional

El Malecon

Santa Maria Beach in Playas Del Este

La ReliQuia

El Christo de la Habana

Strictly, the US government rules talk about having a "full-time schedule" without defining that term.

But I don't think anyone polices that - there will be no OFAC officials checking up on you. So I doubt that you will get in to trouble,

The cruise lines use these rules to press you to take their tours, but from reports, it seems their people on the ship are unlikely to make things difficult for you.
