Thomas Cook (airtours) Cuba leaving tax

I have a holiday booked with Airtours on a Thomas Cook flight. (airtours is part of Thomas Cook group). I have confirmation that the visa/tourist card is included and that I pick this up in the UK but trying to understand the leaving tax from Cuba. As I understand this is now paid before you go through the airline. I booked in January and the changes to the leaving tax came into place in May. I have been told this tax is either part of the booking or paid at the airport in the UK before you depart for £17. Can anyone confirm the process for the leaving tax when flying from UK, with Thomas Cook?

It should confirm on your flight invoice amongst the fare basis bit....

If it's not been paid, then the airline will collect at check-in.

This came into play on May 1 & it's unlikely your tix were issued before then... so my guess would be that you're covered.

If you paid in January and haven't been asked to pay extra since, then most likely they will ask you to pay the extra when you check in.

No. 1 - I have never seen a flight invoice which explains which taxes I am paying - just a line for taxes.

James G:

When are you flying? I would have thought by now they would have contacted you to pay it. If not you will have to pay it at the Thomas Cook check in,

We booked in June and we're flying on Wednesday but haven't heard anything from TC - nothing on my invoice and every email I've had still says we need to pay when we leave Cuba. No idea if we've paid it or not! I'll report back in 2 weeks!

Be prepared to pay it at Manchester Airport when you check in.

hi everyone.. this is what I found on another website

As of May 2015 the Cuban Departure tax should now be covered with your trip fee. So you no longer need to pay for this at teh airport. it's confusing, time consuming and thankfully you shouldn't be worried about this.

I'm trying to find the original link that i had found last week to share with you. thank goodness for the edit feature on this page! wayto go TripAdvisor!

The op is from UK so is trying to find out if they have paid in ticket price.

Depending on when you booked and paid for a UK based ticket is if your tax is included.

Some people still have to pay at checkin in UK.

aww makes sense.. obviusly if they haven't paid through their agency then yes they then need to. when you leave Cuba they no longer collect the fee.
