Caribchakita - Questions

We will be in Bonaire for a cruise stop in January. What should we do during the 6 hours? Restaurant? Beach? Sites?

What fun...so much to ask..first of all what other islands do you visit? This will help me narrow down and day plan.

What to do:

Rent scooters or a car and drive around. Start heading south past about 20 shore dive sites. Snorkel at any one of them. I love Invisibles past Cargil Salt (the oldest family owned company in the US). See the salt hills and the flamingos. Past the lighthouse and see the slave huts. View the wild coastline and the abstract art forms made from flotsam and jetsun. Stop at Sorobon and watch the windsurfers. Have a drink at Hang Out Bar or The Place or both. See the fisherman come in at the end marina.

Head into town and visit the museum before the Catholic Church. Walk around town and see the architecture. See our clean immaculate harbour and walk the seaside promenade.

Take the northern route past out of town, go along the majestic coastline stopping at Thousand Steps. See the lovely stone formations. Head to Gotomeer, the flamingo sanctuary. Stop to admire the view at Alta Vista. Have lunch at Rose Inn in the oldest village of Rincon. Stop at Onima to see the Indian Engravings. Land sail outside of Onima.

What fun..
