Bonaire for relaxation and novice diver?

Hubby and I vacation every X-mas. Novice divers (go 1-2 times per 12 day trip. Snorkel 1-2 times as well. Looking for a destination that has fun happy hours (not late night partiers.....we are old). Have done Roatan (loved it), Jamaica (loved Negril), Cozumel and all other areas of MX. Just looking for a new spot. Like to sit on beach, but do not need endless miles. Like to stay in a condo or house. Needs to be fairly safe.

Bonaire the place? Need something new. Other ideas?????

Help is appreciated. Time to start to book for next year!

suelees, yes, I believe you could walk to the interesting reef by walking along the southern part of the reef, then enter the deeper water when you get to the coral areas. However, that is a longer walk and would require wearing some kind of water shoes much of the way.

Yes, the cruise ships do sometimes cause a problem... some more so than others. Avoid Lac Bay on days when the "Grandeur of the Seas" is in port. On the other hand, the QE2 was also there one day and caused almost no adverse impact on the bay.
