Good Eats, good snorkel trips

Hi :)

Now that we've finally booked our trip to Barbados I was hoping to get some pointers on some cheap places to eat.

One more question.....we love to snorkel . who runs the best snorkeling tours? Are there any good places to snorkel from the shore?

Any tips would be most welcome. Thank you,

Beth

Your enquiry has been answered many times and you'll find everything you want to know by putting "snorkelling" and then "cheap restaurants or inexpensive restaurants" in the search box. If you go over a few pages you'll also find some very recent posts that answer your questions quite thoroughly.

There are lots of Catamaran trips which offer the opportunity to snorkel with turtles.I would recomment Cool Runnings but lots of people have their own favourites. One of the best places to snorkel from the shore however however is in Carlisle Bay beside the Hilton Hotel. There are a number of wrecks in the bay which attract fish.Cheapest and most fun place to eat is Oistens on Friday or Saturday when they have a Fish Fry.

There are many resonable places to eat in the gap area, also just grillin on the west and south coasts. The street vendors and vans are also very good, and the food is perfectly safe.

Supermarkets also have there own hot food counters, very good for lunchtime.

Where abouts on the island are you staying?

best snorkelling is on catamaran Cool Runnings - look at attractions in Tripadvisor it gets great ratings. i have been to Barbados about 20 times and at least as many trips on board - they treat you well, the food is great and you get great opps to swim and snorkel with the turtles. cheap eating out has to be in a rum shop....or for something really different go to the Friday or Saturday night Fish Frys at Moon Town up past Shermans on the west coast - its smaller and more local than some of the others. you will also get great food at Ju Jus beach bar on the west coast next to Westmoreland - you have to hunt to find her though! theres great food in town at the Waterfront, and on the east coast at the Round House....depends what you like to eat and what atmosphere you are looking for!

Snorkeling can be done anywhere off the beaches relatively easy. The South West and West Coast of the island is the best for off shore snorkeling as the water is calmer there. The current isn't as strong there as the South and East Coast.

Some cheap eating can be done at Cheffette which is Barbados version of Mcdonalds. They also have KFC's in the same building too. For good local cuisine try out Just Grillin on the West Coast. There is another one on the South Coast I believe but has been the subject of poor service postings. Check back a few pages and you can find a few posts on restaurants and prices that can help you out also.
