What would you do?

Very excited, we will be arriving in Barbados in a couple of days. Unfortunately, arriving approximately 9:15 pm, we are wondering if there are any suggestions for getting a bite to eat and...where is the best place to procure a ration of rum for the evening? We're staying at the Coral Sands. Are the taxi drivers willing to wait for you to do a bit of shopping?

regarding the taxi drivers: yes, they are very accommodating and will wait for you to shop. if you're going to be a long time anywhere, they will also come back for you at a certain time and in our case, we paid him when he came back for the return trip.

Airport at the duty free before you exit, pick up your rum.

Just cross the street from Coral Sands and you'll see a few restaurants.

Arriving at 9:15, if on time, 40-45 minutes to clear customs, immigration and get luggage. About 15 minutes to Coral Sands, then check in, so about 11:00 you should be sitting down for a bite to eat.

Ricardo

Definitely get whatever liquor you will need from Cave Shepherd just before Customs in BGI. You'll be on AA1995 so you'll be at Coral Sands by 1030pm-ish as long as its on time. Supermarkets will be closed then but a few eateries will be open near your hotel. Another option would be to consider pre-ordering a meal from the hotel. This is common practice by many visitors who arrive late.

Coral Sands has a small restaurant which closes at 8pm (remember they are set up for self catering primarily) but the staff are very obliging and I'm sure a meal could be saved for you if you contact them in advance. As said though there are eating places near by including a roti hut at the end of the drive down to Coral Sands and others on the main road including Lucky Horseshoe which I believe is open 24 hours.

I'm sure you will enjoy Coral Sands - especially the next morning when you see that view from your balcony!
