Planning vacation in Barbados

Hi

I am looking to plan a 7-8 days vacation for a couple. We are in mid 50s, our budget is $2000-2500CAD pp. I did some research and understand that AI is not the best option. I am looking for accommodations on a sweemable beach with calm waters ior within a short walk and some places to eat nearby. We are not going to do much of exploring, if any. Any idea where to stay and price range? Will greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Hi. Does your quoted budget include air? All hotel prices are usually quoted in US$, so would be preferable to mention that, and also when are you planning to go? All beaches are swimable in Barbados, but the West Coast would probably suit you best.

Have a look at Tropical Sunset Beach Apartments, right on the beach in Holetown on the West Coast. Prices would fall in your range for this year. Hotel prices are usually less expensive starting May 1st.

Time of Year is Important - High season or low season? -High season at this time of year will have less options available - the Best Most Reasonable places are booked from year to year in many instance.... so you would be looking for cancellations....

High season ends April 15/17 (approx) - low season runs from mid April until mid December 2017 - accommodation is much easier to find and a better price.

IMHO the calmest "flat" water for swimming is on the west coast facing the Caribbean Sea - there are some calmer locations on the south coast while the east coast is the Atlantic Ocean, which is dangerous for swimming in Most places -there are also some places which are suitable for expert professional surfers

I just re-read your post and your budget is pp, so you can also look at Fairmont Royal Pavillion, maybe Glitter Bay.

So if that is *just for accommodation*? it works out to about $475 US per night - most hotels etc quote in USD

So that's going to be about $350 USD for accommodation and food plus entertainment per couple per day ...

so you are probably going to need to keep your accommodation costs to under $200 US per night to leave about $150 Per couple per day for dining out and eating in.... SEE link below for Cheap Eats on the west coast

Inexpensive restaurants in the Holetown or at least west coast areas

Golden Anchor rum shop, Sea cat, Surfside beach bar, Zaccios, Just Grillin, Indigos

--a bit more expensive, Cafe Carizma, The Beach house. Spagos. Elbow Room, various of the restaurants in the Limegrove Lifestyle centre (Opa, Lemongrass, Pepereno, etc etc etc)

these are just a few of the many bars and restaurants in walking distance in the Holetown area

In Paynes Bay (south of Holetown) there are others Kariba. Connies, *Thurs Fri Sat). Wendys, plus others

North of Holetown - De Outback

Do check out www.re-discover.com for the great restaurant promo at fancy upscale restaurants - a 3 course meal, tax, tip, and a bottle of wine inc. per couple $100 US - must prebook the re-discover menu

After April 15th is a good time to travel as it is 'low' season. Rates are much more affordable and there are also less tourists on island.

I'd suggest the west coast as it is quieter, calmer and everything is within a short drive. Highly suggest White Sands for your group. This is located above Speighstown. Really quaint area. There is also Lantana which has a swimming pool. I know some owners on island if you're interested
