King's Wharf

We will be going on a cruise that ports in Kings Wharf, Bermuda. We will be docked there about 3 days. I read about Hamilton & St George, but is there anything to do, are any nice beaches in the kings wharf area? last time I was in Bermuda was over 20 years ago, and it was solely Hamilton & St George. I am curious about any info on this side of Bermuda. thanks

The KING'S & HERITAGE WHARF cruise ship pier is located at Bermuda's far west-end, within the ROYAL NAVAL DOCKYARD complex-- http://www.thewestend.bm/ The only beach out here is the small, SNORKLE PARK attraction-- http://www.snorkelparkbeach.com/ which is more '..attraction..' than '..beach..'.

Bermuda's best beaches are still the ones that you probably visited and remember from your last visit 20 years ago out along her magnificent south shore--elbow Beach, Astwood Cove, Warwick Long Bay, Jobson's Cove, Stonehole Bay, Chaplin Bay, Horseshoe Bay, Church Bay. There is convenient access to these beaches via Bermuda's excellent public bus service from the landward-end of your King's/Heritage Wharf cruise ship pier (30-50 VERY pleasant minutes) taxis or rental motor scooter. There's also convenient public ferry access to downtown Hamilton (20 very pleasant minutes) and the historic 'olde towne' of Saint George's (45 pleasant minutes.)

there are a couple beaches here in dockyard, snorkel park which has a bar and fast food restaurant and beach rentals and black bay, which has beach rentals and snacks. how nice they are is subjective. black bay has by far the best sunset view in miles, but compared to our south shore beaches, the above two aren't anything special. their main attraction is proximity, especially on the last day of your cruise if you don't want to venture too far away. there is an express bus that goes directly from dockyard to horseshoe bay and from there you can walk along the path that starts at the east end of hsb and takes you past many tiny coves and beaches all the way to warwick long bay, imo a true must see.
