Place to store luggage while visiting St. George

Hi, We are going to Bermuda next weekend. On our last day there we want to spend a few hours in St. George before flying out. Is there a place (airport, bus station) where we could lock up our luggage while we walk around (rather than keep it at the hotel and have to go the whole way back for it).

Sorry, there are no '..left luggage..' facilities in Bermuda....either at the airport, at the bus terminals or anywhere else that I'm aware of.

The only luggage transfer service that I know of is one provided to clients of the EVE'S CYCLES '..Fly 'n Ride..' motor scooter rental program--

But of course, this requirtes renting, collecting and returning a motor scooter at their airport location during your visit....so probably not what you had in mind.

If you haven't been to Bermuda before, perhaps a taxi tour would be the way to go and then get dropped off at the airport at the end. Would probably cost you about $150 for three hours but you would get a guided tour for that plus a drop off at the airport so no separate taxi fare. Blue flag taxis have knowledgeable drivers.

You MIGHT be able to make pre-arrangements with an individual local taxi driver to collect your luggage at your guest accommodations and deliver it to you at the airport at or about a certain pre-determined time, for the cost of the metered taxi fare...but this would require that you BE at the airport in sufficient time to MEET the driver when s/he arrives. There is no sort of short-term 'left luggage' storage at the airport either.

The taxi tour idea is really clever...and resolves all of your issues in one neatly wrapped, little package.

I like your first idea better KDKSail. Take a cab to the airport, and drop your bags off at Eve's. Rent a scooter for the day, and ride over to St. Geroge's. Sightsee for a few hours, including scootering up to the beaches and maybe even St. David's and then return the scooter to Eve's, pick up your bags and check into your flight.. Sounds like a fun little adventure morning to me.

Provided that they are happy riding scooters. Not everyone is, including me.

An American tourist was killed on the weekend after a collision with another vehicle in St George's. I know that hundreds of people ride scooters without incident and certainly it's one way of doing this last minute sightseeing.

Is it possible for them to check their bags at the airport (for their flight) early and then take a taxi to St George?

The trouble with that is that the check-in counters usually open for a very short time relatively speaking. Probably not worth the very short time that they would have in St George even if they check in at the first possible moment. I believe that U.S. travellers clear customs in Bermuda too so not sure how that would affect your suggestion.

>>>Is it possible for them to check their bags at the airport (for their flight) early and then take a taxi to St George?<<<

NO not at all. Given that Bermuda's airport has US Customs & Immigration (ICE) pre-clearance, passengers must first check in at their airline's check-in counter. They then proceed WITH THEIR LUGGAGE to the US Customs & Immigration pre-clearance check-in for US Customs and Immigration inspections. AFTER this process, they proceed WITH THEIR LUGGAGE to the actual airport Baggage Collection area. From this control point they pass through a Bermuda airport security check-point befgore enterring the airport's security controlled Departure Area for outbound flight boarding.

Since US Cuctoms & Immigration (ICE) pre-clearance checks are required BETWEEN airline check-in and actual luggage check-in/collection, there's no way or means to just '..drop-off..' luggage and leave the airport.

It's certainly an alternative...but only if riding rental motorscooter is your thing..and then...given the time it might take to get to the Eve's location near the airport, drop off luggage, go through the initial motor scooter rental & return processes, getting from Eve's to the Departure Area at the airport, allowing sufficient time for check-in at the airline counter, US Customs & Immigration pre-clearance, actual luggage check-in and passenger security clearances prior to scheduled outbound flight departure time....what time might remain for touring about probably wouldn't be all that much to justify jumping through that many hoops.
