Best way to get to the lighthouse?

Hi, we are stopping at kings wharf on our cruise. What would be the best way to get to the lighthouse, and time permitting a short stop at horseshoe beach? I am traveling with my 70 year mother who isn't really comfortable on buses so this would be a last transportation choice for us. Also are there guided tours of the lighthouse? Do we need to book anything in advance for the lighthouse, or just show up?

You can take a '..regular..' (NOT 'Special' express) #7--Dockyard-Via South Shore Beaches-Hamilton bus from the stop at the landward end of your King's/Heritage Wharf cruise ship pier to the bus stop at Lighthouse Road/Henry VIII restaurant & pub....then walk up Lighthouse Road (approx. 500 yards UP-hill) to the lighthouse...then one-hundred-eighty-five steps up to the light room and deck for spectacular 360° panoramic views of Bermuda (or just buy a postcard, take a macro-picture of it and save yourself the climb). To the best of my knowledge, there are no organized tours of Gibb's Hill Lighthouse.

From Gibb's Hill Lighthouse, walk back down the hill and take another #7 bus onward to Horseshoe Bay (a couple/few stop....3-5 mins)...or walk (approx. 1 ¼ mile). If you decide to walk, take the '..short-cut..' down through the Fairmont Southampton Hotel's beachclub. It'll save you ½ mile.

Would you be interested in doing a tour of the island and including the lighthouse and Horseshoe Beach as part of the tour? If so you can hire a Blue Flag taxi for 4 or 5 hours at about $45 - $50 an hour for a guided tour. The driver will tailor the trip to reflect your interests. You could also take a taxi to the Lighthouse which will save you the climb up the road from the bus stop. It will probably cost about $25. You could then walk back down the road and take the bus a couple of stops to Horseshoe Bay and then the bus back to the Dockyard. If you decide to use the bus don't forget to buy a pass or some tickets at the kiosk in the Dockyard.
