Cost of food?

Hi I won a 3 night vacation to Bermuda at the hotel of my choice but it doesnt include meals. Can anyone tell me what the average cost of meals are? We wont be eating anything fancy or anything just average. Thanks

Meals in Bermuda tend to be very expensive. For 2 adults you will easily spend $100.00+ for dinner. You say you are not looking for anything fancy, so I recomment M. R. Onions in Hamilton (a few streets back from Front Street). They have a good variety of food, which is good, and runs about $20.00 or so per person. I suggest you look in the local phonebook when you get there, as alot of the menu's for major restaurants are in there with pricing.

If you are looking for inexpensive food, then you can try Pizza House in Shelly Bay or in Southampton for Pizza and subs, or you can even try Ice Queens in Paget which is a small take out place where many locals grab a burger, pizza, chicken nuggets, etc.

What hotel are you thinking of staying in?

Bermuda is my second home and I am sure that you will enjoy it!!

Dinner checks on Bermuda tend to be more expensive than many other island vacation destinations. But we have found that at least some portion of the higher prices go toward making Bermuda one of the most beautiful, friendliest, safests and most accessile destinations in the world. In many destinations, your resortis pretty much your 'destination' and you will seldom venture outside of its fenced & gated confines. But on Bermuda, the entire place is your 'resort'. As an example, Bermuda;s PUBLIC beaches (rather than private hotel beaches) are where they take the photos for the glossy brochures and travel poster and the BEST she had to offer.

The following are menu listings from a number of average local restaurants on Bermuda. These establshments are all quite pleasant but none would be considered very up-scale or especially "..fancy.."--just average. You can check menus and prices for yourself:

HOG PENNY PUB-- http://www.hogpennypub.com/

LA TRATTORIA-- http://www.bermuda.com/latrattoria/

PICKLED ONION-- http://www.thepickledonion.com/

FRESCO's-- http://www.frescos.bm/

SWIZZLE INN-- http://www.swizzleinn.com/

Kathy's Kaffee-- http://www.kathyskaffee.bm/

Several other restaurant menu links-- http://www.bermudayp.com/op-menu.html

For other inexpensive restaurants, check out MONYTY's; The SPOT, The GREEN LANTERN, SPECIALTY INN, PARAQUET, TIO PEPE, WHITE HORSE TAVERN

We are not sure where we are staying yet. I have to pick 3 hotels then Tourism Bermuda will confirm one of them. Its a 3 night package but we would like to stay a extra night or 2 at our own expense. We are not looking at spending much money as we have dont alot of travelling this year. I cannot find anything under $200/night. We would sleep anywhere just to stay a extra night or 2! Anyways do you have any suggestions? All we want is to relax on the beach the whole time so are not picky for the extra nights!! Any other suggestions for things to do or see? Thanks a bunch, Michelle

There are many small properties on the south shore area that are very reasonable. Most of them have efficiency kitchens so that you can keep some food/drinks in the fridge if you wish. You can check Sandpiper Guest Apts, Astwood Cove, Clairfont Guest Apts, and Syl-den. All are reasonably priced and clean. I hope this helps.

Want to relocate to Caribbean location. Bermuda appears to be expensive. Does anyone have an idea how to relocate to this location.
