Marriott Tradewinds and using points

Considering Marriott Aruba in October using points. We typically have access to the concierge lounge but do they even have this at this property ? Anyone have a recent price on the charge for Tradewinds and can we cover it with points ??Thanks

The Tradewinds is not a concierge lounge and Marriott status will not get you access to it. I have found that the best approach is to reserve the lowest level room and then try to pay to upgrade. Not sure if you can use points to upgrade but the cost to purchase when we did it was $125 per night. It is a nice lounge and if you plan to spend most of your time at the property it can be a good value.

I am thinking of using points for Tradewinds also but, it is a lot....It's almost double the points of a regular room plus 7 upgrade certificates per night.

Depending on when you are going, this hotel is often not a good use of points based on its category 8 status. In January or February maybe but in July or August you are probably better off finding a good deal for a base level room. If you have Marriott status they will try to upgrade your view and the cost to upgrade to Tradewinds is not bad.
