Can you snorkel just off the beach in Aruba?

I'm interested in finding out more about Aruba. Can you snorkel just off the beach and see alot without paying for a "snorkel excursion"?

Yes, there are several beaches that you can snorkel from. The closest ones to the hotel areas would be Boca Catalina, Malmok, and Arashi.

You can also snorkel from the beach at the far end of the island at Baby Beach and Mangel Halto.

A map and photos of the various beaches:

Just got back last night from 8 days in paradise. We took a catamaran trip to go snorkeling. The sailing was very nice. However, we stopped at a place called shallow beach which could have been accessed directly off the beach in Malmok.

If you own your own snorkeling equipment and plan to snorkele off the beaches, I would take it along. The equipment they give out on boats is not very good and is shared by many. Plus it was about $8 a day to rent equipment in Aruba.
