Aruba....Honeymoon destination?

Hi all,

Would you recommend Aruba as an ideal honeymoon destination?? I really don't want to pick the wrong place to visit as i'm only looking to honeymoon once ;). I want somewhere with beautiful beaches, boat trips, snorkelling and lots of good food...We want ultimate relaxation! Any recommendations of things to do, places/ beaches to visit and romantic restaurants to eat at please?? :) p.s. Can you take boat trips from Aruba to other Caribbean islands?

We spent our honeymoon in Aruba in 1996 and loved it! We've been back every year since then and now twice a year since 2005. Aruba has everything you're looking for.

No boat trips to other islands but you can take a 30 minute flight to Curacao or Bonaire.

Jay - We were there the first part of Sept. 1996 - stayed in a lanai room just steps from the beach at the old Aruba Palm Beach Resort & Casino (the hotel was PINK back then - same as my wedding colors so we figured it was meant to be - LOL!)

Aruba is the most revisited island in the Caribbean. World class beaches, friendly people, English widely spoken, safe to explore and easy to navigate. It is desert-like as opposed to the tropical look of Jamaica, St Lucia, Hawaii, etc. I suggest that you take a jeep tour of the island. It is very small and can easily be explored in a day. For the most part, a jeep isn't necessary, but would be required to visit some of the underdeveloped "roads" in the Arikiok National Park. Aruba offers a wide variety of dining choices in all price ranges. I definitely consider it to be a wonderful choice for a honeymoon.

Amy- we stayed at the Hyatt, we checked in on June 9 for nine wonderful nights. The island has changed so much but we still LOVE it.

Hi, I've just returned from two weeks in Aruba and whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my stay I would not consider it to be an ideal honeymoon destination. I guess it really depends what you are looking for but I personally felt that the island was rather barren, there was no "tropical" island feel to it as I understand there to be with others. If you are not intending to go "all inclusive" you might also find dining out quite expensive, although on the plus side there were plenty of good quality restaurants to choose from and public transport was safe and dependable. I am not attempting to deter you from choosing this destination, merely trying to point out that it is not everyones idea of paradise. That said, it is quite obvious that many people have fallen in love with its charm - maybe I may have felt differently had it been my honeymoon!

In reply to post #8, research should have revealed the topography of the island, so it should not become a disappointment to find that it is "barren." Kindly refer to my description in post #6. Dining out is NOT expensive when compared to dining out in most other Caribbean destinations and, especially not expensive, when compared to most international destinations. e.g. London, New York, etc. No place is viewed exactly the same by different people. That is why a wide range of opinions is the best guideline in making a choice. There is no guarantee that YOU will love Aruba, but the odds strongly favor that most visitors will. Why else would it be the most revisited of all islands in the Caribbean?

We went on our honeymoon and stayed at the Divi 7/30/11 and we wil be back in 2 weeks for our 2 year anniversary. We LOVED aruba that is why we are going back. We went to Cancun in April which was more of a party place however our hearts lie in Aruba. If you are going for your honeymoon look into all inclisive resorts like the Divi
