Are beaches public?

Are beaches public in Aruba? Travelled there many times but always stayed for 10 days. Now going with a cruise ship stopping all day long and wondering what beach or hotel is available to cruise ships.

1. Re: Are beaches public?

All beaches in Aruba are public. However, the palapas and lounge chairs are property of the hotels and are for their guests' use only.

If you want to rent a chair on the beach there are a couple of places on Palm Beach where this can be done - one is at Moomba's Beach Bar which is located next to the Holiday Inn and the other is a vendor who rents chairs between the Radisson and the Riu Grand (in front of DePalm Pier.)

There are some free palapas for shade along Eagle Beach where there are no hotels (between Paradise Beach Villas and LaQuinta) but no chairs to rent.

There is a beach vendor in front of LaCabana that I think rents chairs to cruise ship passengers (I'm not 100% sure though.) You may want to email LaCabana to verify first.

Amy, when we were at PBV last October, the watersports guys were also renting chairs. It was a pretty small operation, looked like less then a dozen chairs in total. Mostly renting to the cruise ship folks getting off the buses.

Thanks, Chris! I was pretty sure there was someone around the LaCabana / PBV area renting chairs but wasn't exactly sure who or where.
