Travelling with Children

Planning a trip for either January or February with small child under 2. How are the medical facilities etc in Antigua and which all inclusive hotel would you reccomend for a family.

The general medical facilities are fine - make sure your insurance is up to date and covers your trip, though. There's the main hospital at Mount St Johns, or the private clinic (the Adelin) at Fort Road. There are also some very good paediatricians on island should the need arise.

With young children, I've always recommended staying in a villa so you can keep your own timetable rather than someone else's (and get a lot more space for your money), but if you're set on an all inclusive, the best is Carlisle Bay (fantastic with children, but $$$$). For a straightforward family resort, it's hard to beat Jolly Beach, with an upgraded room category - supersaver and even standard are small with a child around.
