Carlisle bay, Blue Waters, need help choosing.

Good afternoon,

I am considering Antigua for a vacation for my wife and I in July and was wondering which hotel to choose from...carlisle bay or blue waters. Are there a lot of restaurants, etc near each hotel. How are the beaches and pools at each hotel. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I appreciate everyone's time.

Sorry for the slow reply,

For me, Carlisle Bay every time, it's just much, much cooler. That's not to say that BW isn't a lovely hotel (particularly the newer Cove Suites).

There is very little near either of these, however - you're looking at a taxi ride or rental car if you want to eat elsewhere. I think there's a little more in terms of restaurants nearer Carlisle than BW.

In terms of beaches, Carlisle's is much longer and has more on it. It's also close to Cades Reef for snorkelling (by boat). The main pool at Carlisle is lovely, but there are more of them at BW.

No contest really.

Beaches: BW technically has 3 but putting them all together I doubt they would add up to 100meters and they get a BIT crowded in High Season.

CB has one of at least 300 metres and much prettier.

Pools: BW has 3, nice enough but 2 are beginning to show their age,

CB has one, large and v. attractive

Nearby restaurants: Neither has any restaurants within walking distance.

BW has some decent places within 5 -15 min Taxi rides

CB is similar but make that 10 - 20mins

The food at both resort varies between good and excellent with CB having the edge.

Accommodation at CB is very high standard and, while the Cove Suites at BW certainly matched them the rest of the rooms at BW are not in the same league.

Depending on your expectations vacationing at either place will be a memorable experience.

Me ? CB every time.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for. CB is v cool with lovely beach too. BW is beautiful lovely gardens, 3 beaches, smallish coves but pretty. 3pools in main bit and another 4 at the Cove Suites. They have recently had big refurb programme so everything looking good in May. New chef getting great reviews on TA.

Nix Carlisle Bay & Blue Waters; Go With "Galley Bay", which is Adults Only and "All-Inclusive".
