Dickinson Bay to Valley Church/Ffryes

Anyone got directions or input on how much of a project it is to drive from Sandals down to these beaches? First time to Antigua next week and we've got a car for a few days. I've driven around Aruba and all over Jamaica, so comfort level isn't an issue, just how to get there!

It's not actually that bad at all, but does involve getting to the other side of St Johns, which might appear a bit confusing. If you go on a day when there are cruise ships in, I'd be inclined to go round the outskirts, but on a quiet day you can go straight through as long as you avoid rush hour.

The road map provided with your rental car is actually pretty good for the city streets, which are more or less in a grid, and one-way in alternating directions - you need to watch out for this! Once you come out on the other side, it's very straightforward to get down the coast. Personally, I wouldn't bother with Valley Church, which I think is hugely overrated, but carry on to Darkwood, which is the next along from Ffryes and much, much nicer.

We've had a fair bit of surf on the west coast for the past week or so, but with a bit of luck it will have calmed down by next week.

As George says the map you get from the Hire Company will be perfectly adequate for such a straightforward journey.

However, if you have a Laptop , Tablet or Smart phone with Google maps on it you will find that it covers Antigua very well. In that way you can get point to point directions between almost any of the important / popular points on the island.

Agreed you will need access to GPS while on the journey but that is fairly straightforward most of the time.

Thank you, guys... we do intend to go to Darkwood and a few others as well. Want to try Dennis's for lunch on Saturday (no cruise ships that day, supposedly) and go on from there.
